Remember the financial melt-down a few years ago? I was really confused, at first, about just what had happened. After reading about it a bit,  I thought I had a fairly good grasp of the big picture, but The Big Short finally snapped all the pieces together for me.

Lewis has this amazing ability to portray the awful truth with accuracy, and yet leave you feeling informed and edified, rather than horrified and hopeless. I know you'll appreciate his explication of all those abstruse financial instruments! He makes it all seem simple.
If you find time, do put Liar's Poker on your list somewhere, too. It's dated, but relevant, I suppose, as background. And it's also a fast romp of a read.
