CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Jyumonji Kazuki of Eyeshield 21
In-Game Name: Jyumonji Kazuki
"Real" Name: Alton Brown
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Room Number:
Roommate:
Point in Canon: Chapter 275 of the Manga

Appearance:
Jyumonji looks a little weird for a Japanese teenager. For one thing, he has a head of short blonde hair. Most of the kids at school accuse him of dying it but it's all natural. It sticks up all over the place and is a little longer in the front than in the back with the occasional bang falling into his eyes. His has dark brown eyes that are usually narrowed in annoyance or concentration, but also end up wide-eyed in rage due to the raging stupidity of others. Jyumonji's features aren't very prominent but they are strong and are definitely masculine; not a bit of him looks all that soft or curvy. His skin is on the paler side of peach but due to all the outdoor training he's had to undergo lately it's getting a little darker every day. His most distinguishing mark is the cross-shaped scar on his right cheek, something that is apparently inherited from his father and not the result of an injury.

Jyumonji's an average height at 175cm and weighs in at 71kg though all of the weight is muscle. He's pretty built from the rigorous training he's gone under and has a great deal of muscle definition. While he is most certainly not a hulking mass of muscles, he has a linebacker's body and he looks like he could snap most people in half if he put any effort into it.

Clothing for Jyumonji is pretty basic. Most of the time he's in his Devil Bats uniform [number 51!] or he's wearing plain pants with the red and black t-shirt that all of the teammates have. While at school he has his Deimon uniform which consists of a white button up shirt, a green blazer, and black pants. Outside of this he doesn't wear anything very fancy. Jyumonji's usual attire has him wearing pants with a plain or printed button up despite his punkish attitude. Usually he doesn't worry about it, however, since he's mostly in his school uniform.

Personality:
Jyumonji has a very short temper. It might not be as short as Kuroki's, but it doesn't take much to get the punk to start a yelling match with you. He talks a big talk and isn't afraid to back up his words with his fists or a nice metal bat to the side of your head. If you get on his nerves he's going to treat you like shit, and he isn't about to play nice with anyone unless they have a significant amount of blackmail on him. Even then he is likely to grow fed up with how he's being treated by the person blackmailing him and just walk out entirely; incriminating evidence be damned. Jyumonji doesn't like it when people mess around with him, and he makes that obvious by beating the tar out of anyone who tries.

If Jyumonji has one button you don't want to push, it's his friends. Kuroki and Togano mean a lot to the guy, and anyone belittling or hurting them is immediately on Jyumonji's bad side. He's had a deep sense of loyalty to them and he cares about them probably more than anything else in the world, so he doesn't take very kindly to people being assholes to them. Even talking down on them, no matter how dumb Togano or Kuroki were to deserve that sort of treatment, is enough to get Jyumonji enraged. While this has lately extended to some extent to the rest of the Deimon Devil Bats team, his reaction is at its strongest when it has to do with his two best friends. He doesn't like it when they badmouth themselves, either, and while he doesn't outwardly ever tell them to stop doing it he tries his best to get them to see their better traits. Jyumonji also attempts to put them into situations where they could possible better themselves and get recognition for it so they actually want to do well, but it doesn't always work out. Jyumonji is at his happiest when his friends are happy too, and he does whatever he thinks is best for them even if they don't realize what's good for them.

For being a punk he actually gets remarkably good grades. Jyumonji scores well in math, English, and other "real" subjects while doing poorly in extra curricular activities [except for football of course]. As a result, he's the fourth smartest person on the Devil Bats behind Hiruma, Yukimitsu, and Mamori. This leads to frustration when other members of the team say and do stupid things, and Jyumonji can often be found with a hand smacked against his face and asking God why life has to be this way. Stupidity hurts Jyumonji's brain just a little, and he frequently yells at his team mates for saying foolish things or calmly pointing out exactly why what they just said will not work in the real world where the laws of physics still rule. He's good at making plans and likes to have a strategy instead of running into something blindly. This is often at odds with the rest of his team, and certainly his best friends, but sometimes he is loud enough to cool everyone down and get them to listen to reason. Other times Jyumonji gets swept up in the stupidity of the moment and charges in with the rest of them without caring about the logic of the situation. Jyumonji might like plans but when he can't come up with one he will take action anyway. Everything requires an action, even if it isn't a nicely planned out one.

Jyumonji has lately been showing some leader-like qualities. He is pretty good at getting the people around him to shut up and listen to him, as previously mentioned, something that's good when the dumber members of the team are yelling out their own stupid ideas. He's technically been the "leader" of himself, Kuroki, and Togano for years now, but lately he's been able to pull some weight in the Devil Bat's as well. Since his ideas are usually smart-sounding and also cool-sounding, they are frequently followed with enthusiasm. Jyumonji is a big fan of all or nothing strategies and doesn't like to do anything halfway; which is good since the Devil Bat's strategies are pretty much all based on do-or-die plans.

He really enjoys just hanging out most days, and could not be more content than when he's sitting around with no purpose with Kuroki and Togano. Jyumonji could feasibly do nothing else all day and be content, because he genuinely enjoys their company. He doesn't mind hanging out with the team that much these days, either, and seems to have a good time whenever they all celebrate or train together.

History:
Jyumonji is an only child; a son of an overworked business man and a woman who probably left her husband long ago for being a jerk. He lived alone with his father in an apartment in Deimon, Japan and seems to have lived there all his life. Jyumonji always got bullied and picked on by other people his age because of his blonde hair, and as such he toughened up quickly so he could hit those people back. In kindergarten he met two other boys his age, one Togano Shozo and one Kuroki Koji. One was a neatly silent kid who did little other than read manga all day, while the other was a loud and violent kid who played video games. He didn't really like the look of them at first, but after some time all three of them became best friends. They stuck together as slackers through thick and thin, and the other two boys had saved Jyumonji's ass many a time from idiots picking on him. Jyumonji grew to care a lot about his friends, and even when his father insisted they were useless and only holding him back he stayed with them anyway. It only made him dislike his father more to hear how he spoke about his friends and they grew more and more distant as the years went on.

As freshmen in high school the three guys were ready to continue with their slacker lifestyle. They kept up bullying others, and one person they bullied in particular was Kobayakawa Sena, a really short kid in their grade who had made a reputation of being easily pushed around. One day they called Sena on a bet they had made with him over a game of janken and told him to go get them bread within 5 minutes or else. Sena tried, but they were sold out and he had to come back with the bad news. Naturally, being the level-headed people that Jyumonji and his friends were, they decided to beat the tar out of Sena. Unfortunately they decided to beat him up in the American football clubroom and were caught by Kurita, who mistakenly thought they were joining the team. Kurita was able to beat their strength easily and they fled to save their own hides. They still wanted revenge, however, and they found Sena later on in the day to get Kurita's number from him. Using that, Jyumonji planned on telling the police that Kurita had attacked him and left the scar that was already on his cheek and get Kurita expelled. Sena refused to hand over the cellphone and ran away from them. The punks chased him down to the subway but Sena was too fast and they missed him. They had fallen down some stairs during the pursuit and landed in an unconscious heap at the bottom, where Hiruma found them and took blackmail shots of the three naked.

After that, their fates were sealed.

Hiruma blackmailed them right onto the team and they couldn't do a thing about it. It pissed Jyumonji off a lot to have lost to someone, and he didn't like anyone having anything over him, but he feared Hiruma too much to do anything about it at the beginning. They were dragged onto the team for the Deimon vs. Zokugaku game, where they tried their best to avoid playing at all. Unfortunately they ended up going out on the field anyway and were all extremely annoyed with the Zokugaku linemen were able to easily overpower them. With some planning though from Hiruma, Deimon beat Zougaku and Jyumonji thought their time playing football would be over. And for a short time, it was over. Jyumonji settled back into their usual routine until one day some short jerk, Daikichi Komusubi, ran into them. They were so mad they chased him down, and ended up back at the football team. Despite their hard efforts to not qualify, Jyumonji and his two friends ended up making it onto the team permanently anyway, and with Daikichi constantly mocking them in that silent way of his they weren't about to prove him right by not kicking butt. They trained with the rest of the time, even if it was a lot less enthusiastically, but eventually Jyumonji got sick of it along with the other two. So they attempted to find the pictures Hiruma had blackmailed them with to get rid of them, only to be stopped by Daikichi who insisted they get back to training. Jyumonji had had enough and they decided to beat Daikichi up, but when they had him held down and Jyumonji moved in to beat him with a baseball bat he grew annoyed with how he still needed to use a bat against Daikichi even after all that training. He let him go and all three of them left, presumably quitting the team for good.

It didn't last long. They went to a café where the Taiyou Sphinx were eating. Incidentally they overheard the team insulting their performances on the football field, and being the hothead he is, Jyumonji grabbed one of them and called him on it. A mistake, it turned out, when they ended up broken in an alley behind the café thanks to the Taiyou lineman Banba. Jyumonji got annoyed with Banba, though, and wouldn't give up without more of a fight. It didn't seem to matter though as Banba was just too strong and Jyumonji ended up right back down on the ground next to Kuroki and Togano. All three of them were pissed off after that and went right back to train more, determined to crush Taiyou in Deimon's upcoming game with them.

Hiruma apparently liked how they had finally gotten serious about the game and called up the Zokugaku team, who were stuck in debt from losing to Deimon, to help the three get a more effective training. Jyumonji didn't like Habashira Rui, the linebacker for Zokugaku, but they trained with them anyway and their skills improved before the game against Taiyou. The game was long and difficult, and in the beginning they continuously got pushed down by the Taiyou linemen. At first it frustrated and embarrassed them but as the game progressed they soon no longer cared about the crowd's reaction to them. They were going to push back with all their might, to hell with what anyone else thought! This attitude helped them gain the extra strength to fend off the Taiyou defense, and managed to secure a tie game with them, and also secure their place as the Japanese representatives in a match against an American football team. Jyumonji was pretty pleased with this outcome, and they continued to stick with the team, even if they still weren't entirely as dedicated as some of the other members of the team were. That was alright by them, they were doing fine how they were.

That changed when Jyumonji read a magazine article about their performance in the Taiyou game. It had said that he showed promise, but that Togano and Kuroki might as well have not even been there. Enraged that someone could dare to talk about his best friends like that, Jyumonji made up his mind to make it so they couldn't say things like that ever again. He finally quit smoking and took training periods seriously, and tried to get Kuroki and Togano to do the same by example. Their next game was against the American high school football team, the Nasa Aliens. Hiruma went so far as to extend the wager of their game and said if the team who won didn't do so by at least a ten point difference then the Aliens would be stranded in Japan and the Devil Bats would have to go to America in their place. The Aliens beat the Devil Bats, but only by one point, so they had to leave for America immediately. Hiruma was true to his word and off they went, where they all ended up in Texas. During their time there, the team found Doburoku Sakaki, a man who would become their coach. Hiruma planned out with him that the entire team would go through a hellish training experience by walking from Texas to Las Vegas, a training called the 'Death March'. Togano and Kuroki didn't want to do it, and they were about to opt out and hop on the airplane back to Japan but Jyumonji stayed put. He reminded them of how much praise and approval they got whenever they managed to hold back their opponents and how great it was to win, and, a bit amused by Jyumonji's behavior, the other two agreed to stay for the training. Jyumonji struggled with the rest of the team to complete the training, which taxed heavily on all of their bodies. He was determined to complete it however, so he didn't quite understand when Kuroki and Togano decided to give up. A few words from Doburoku, however, and they gave that notion up, and Jyumonji was happy they weren't going to quit on him.

It was a long struggle but they all made it to Las Vegas. There they gambled to get enough money to return to Japan and pay off Doburoku's debts so that he could re-enter Japan. The hellish training had paid off and they all found themselves capable of practicing much longer than they once had been able to. With their new endurance and strength, the team set out for the Fall Tournament with their ultimate goal to be to reach the Christmas Bowl; the goal that Hiruma, Kurita, and Musashi had all shared before. They were able to beat their next opponents, the Poseidons, without too much trouble but their next match was against the Seibu Wild Gunmen. Due to a lack of preparation, they lost the match, and had to do a consolation match against the Bando Spiders in order to continue on in the tournament. They managed to win against the Spiders and were lined up for their first match of the real tournament. The Devil Bats got extremely unlucky and their first opponents were none other than the Shinryuuji Nagas. Jyumonji really got annoyed with their quarterback, Kongo Agon, who continued to call those without natural born talent trash. It irritated him enough to fight even harder during the game, and Jyumonji actually scored a touchdown during the game, something that would not happen normally as he is a lineman. They managed to beat the Nagas, against all odds, and they moved on to face the Ojo White Knights.

There Jyumonji personally faced off against "Prison Chain" Ikari on the field to protect Sena and ensure he could do his job as linebacker without fear. Even though Ikari was stronger than he was, Jyumonji was able through his determination to keep him away from Sena and thus the ball. Again, against all probability, Deimon succeeded against the Knights and secured a place in the finals against the Hakushyuu Dinosaurs.

The game against the Dinosaurs was a disaster. Hiruma broke his throwing arm in the middle of the game, and was effectively useless for the rest of it. It was only through the power of bluffing and lots and lots of luck that they managed to win against them; a surprise to anyone watching. The team decided to celebrate their victory on a boat with a big party because they'd finally done it. They'd finally gotten into the Christmas Bowl.
