One of the books I pick up for a quick break is called What Were They Thinking?. It's a survey of bad and silly ideas through history. Some of the listings are pretty funny or cringeworthy, and there's at least one that I'm pretty sure is a popular myth that isn't really true (but I'm too lazy to check references for it, or anything in the book
