Honestly, I've never read a ToS before and I am not going to start now...

I don't blog much anymore. (Twitter's where the fun stuff is: @Nmamatas.) When I do need to blog, or share a link to publications, I probably will use this space anyway. Come and get me, Putin!

although i will say i signed up over there and am porting my LJ (even though i back it up with LJarchive) because they apparently quietly moved the physical servers in January. this i did not know. it's WAY easier to kill the place with the hardware in that country instead of here. i like online blogging, and since DW made an interface basically the same as LJ, and made it so easy to port your LJ, why the hell not?

If Putin started limiting the free speech of Americans in America, would this have political repercussions?

I don't know the answer, but it might be fun to find out.

I truly do not understand the recent ToS hysteria. "That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works."

it wasn't exactly the ToS (although apparently the English translation apparently isn't legally binding? or so i've read) - that bothered me, but what really bugged me was finding out they'd moved their base of operations without exactly publicizing that fact. when they were a Russian company located in the US, i figured that we'd probably get forewarning before LJ disappeared. being a Russian company located in Russia, however...
