http://www.hyperdia.com/ is a wonderful site I used quite often while I was over there.
Though I took the JR Yamanote Line from Ikebukuro to Hamamatsucho.
And from Hamamatsucho you can take the JR Yamanote again to Shinbashi, from which you'll transfer to the Toei Asakusa line, which takes you directly there.

if you want to use *only* the subway, there are quite a few subway stations around tokyo tower:

大江戸線 赤羽橋駅/赤羽橋口 徒歩5分
日比谷線 神谷町駅/1 徒歩7分
三田線 御成門駅/A1 徒歩6分
浅草線 大門駅/A6 徒歩10分

But since you're going to asakusa in the end, from Ikebukuro, you take 丸ノ内線 (heading towards 新宿), stop at 銀座 station, transfer to the メトロ日比谷線 (heading towards 北千住), stop at 東銀座 station, transfer to the 都営浅草線 (heading towards 羽田空港), stop at 大門 station. Go to tokyo tower. walk back and take the 都営浅草線 (heading towards 青砥) to 浅草 station.

ok.. that sounds complicated even for me..
i think yukitsukihana san's direct ikebukuro to hamamatsucho is easier :x

That should be easy. Save Tokyo Tower for night, because it looks fine then. Start your day at 9:30 or 10, so you don't have to rush.

For Asakusa, you can ride the Yamonote (it's the big loop track) to Ueno and then takes the Ginza subway line. That subway line goes to Ueno, Ginza, Akasaka-mitsuke, and Shibuya.

Ikebukro is a stop on the Yamnote loop, so you can decide to go there first or after Asakusa. Ikebukuro is probably about 25 minutes from Asakusa by the Yamnote rail and Ginza subway.

Tokyo Tower is a ten or 15 minute walk from the Hamamatsuchō station on the Yamanote line. Hamamatsuchō is probably less than 20 minutes from Ueno and maybe 40 minutes from Ikebukuro. Save the Tower for night so you can fit Ikebukro and Asakusa in without having to rush. It looks better at night, anyway.

The Yamanote line is a train line, not a subway line but it's cheap, so it shouldn't matter. And it's "Yamanote"...sorry for all the typos.
