Another good Katrina Timeline link The more of these out there, the better I like it. No matter how long it takes we cannot forget the incompetence of so many, including those in the highest offices

I am sorry you are hearing such things. I understand. I hear some of the same things and it is very hard to keep my hands off people. It was the same during 9-11 for me.
Sunday I will be heading for this very long deserted beach. Way down the beach and into the woods by about 200 yards is an active eagle's nest. I will be spending some time under it with my sacred pipe. That is where we ended up when we did ceremonies for the people in NY. It seems fitting to go there again now and do what we can do best for the people hurting this time.
Hopefully some of my anger will slip away during that time as well.
Thank you so much for that, I was actually trying to chronologize it in my head so that's definitely helpful.
I am all for playing the blame game at the same time as focusing on the needs of the victims, why not do both? If we don't point it out now, when it's all said and done with, it makes it that much easier for the ones at blame to play innocent and make everything blow over with some other world event so that everyone else will forget about this, which is what I don't want to happen. Like you so nicely stated--having it all pushed under the rug.
And I'm not tired of reading about it at all, the more the better. I completely agree with your words.
Very direct and to the point, and it seems that the bureacracy is taking the first small steps to hold someone accountable. The FEMA Chief has been relieved and recalled to Washington.
I read your later entry about going to the spot with the Eagles nest. I am not that familiar with the ceremonies that are performed in Native American culture. Is there a ceremony for the animals who have also suffered in the aftermath of Katrina?
Typically, at least for those around me anyway, when we do ceremony or pray in anyway it is usually done with regard to ALL our relations. That has both human and non-humans in mind. Our beliefs are that all things Created are interrelated in some way. We will doing a sacred pipe ceremony and tobacco offerings at that location. The Eagles are most likely still there (but migrating soon for warmer weather). We have great respect for them and they seem at peace with our presence as well. Last time we did this under their nest was the Friday following 9-11. It is a good place to connect to something bigger then ourselves. If you wish to know more, feel free to ask. Use my email if you are more comfortable with that.
