This one is short so I will just toss it out here. One point....I had the good fortune to spend time with William Commanda and talk to him for several days. Its funny, that I was thinking of this on my drive to work. This notion, of creating "tribal entities" within local communities is the CRUX of sustainable development, which in my mind, is our one savior. That we will learn to live in balance with the enviromnet around us starting at a local level. This includes all water, energy, increased mixed-use zoning, etc etc...

Communities then work together to share the deficit of what they don't have due to the nature of the land they are on, with the surplus which they are able to provide. This is obviously over-generalizing, but its the concept first that people have to see and make a priority.
