1. do you need to smudge pets (of course right) if they are inside...
2. when you place the ashes across the doorway...wouldnt that trap any negativity inside that wasnt cleansed?
3. what are the reprecussions of doing this incorrectly?

2. By the time you do a good job on a space, you will feel that you can seal the work. You can also now put salt around the space as well. This is a European medicine, but it does work well. If you are going to use other protective medicines, putting them in place now would be a good idea.
3. If you do it badly you could push something negative into a living being. Thats bad. If there is a spirit that is confused and trapped, it may become frantic and start tearing into things. Trust me if that happens you will know it. Understand, using sage does not just move negative things.It moves EVERY thing. The good things do not mind however. They will return when asked.
The number one thing that brings negativity into a space is the people themselves. Think of smudging like mopping the floor. Once its clean and nice, its up to the inhabitants to wipe their feet. We all track bad stuff home with us. It takes awareness of this to leave it elsewhere.
