I was very young when I watched this animation (which is actually not really for kids, now that I've rewatched it again). I couldn't remember much of the movie. The most memorable scene was when Nezha killed himself to save his family and the village, a cranich caught a drop of his blood and dropped it on the top of a lotus, from which Nezha was

owh, wasn't Nezha purpose of travelling(?) is because of wanting to meet her(?, because in my country dub being voiced by a woman) mother?

I never saw a live action version. Nezha is actually a boy, but mostly played by actresses or is dubbed with female voices (as he's mostly depicted as a youth, hence chinese adaptions mostly use women to portray him ^^).
Of course there's more than one legend of Nezha. This animation only covers his first adventure. I'm not familiar with his other achievements, but it's said that his relationship with his father is not that well. Maybe there's one of him going on a journey to find his mother.
And there's another telling of him asking his mother to build a temple for him which his father but destroyed.

I have the VCD and I was able to memorize all the dialogs and moves (because of the watching quantity XD)
