Oh, I wish I'd managed to see Oingo Boingo live! Regrettably, I only discovered them in about 1994, not very soon before they decided to disband.. still, I could always try going to see the Residents someday. (Their Icky Flix DVD is the only example of their work I have, and it does appear to be quite a testament to their style

Boingo had some great brass they'd bring on stage at times (think "Little Girls"). Classical instruments can really sound great thrown into modern stuff.

Oh yeah, that reminded me, I also saw Bobby McFerrin play with the San Diego Summer Pops. It was out in the open-air auditorium that they set up in Seaport Villiage, great weather, might have been fireworks afterwards. I think Gatcat was there, too.

Best part: McFerrin conducted the Pops in the William Tell Overture, and had them do the horsehoof section a cappella. :-)
