I don't know how it is for preemies, maybe pumping is more important, but I really drove myself crazy about breastfeeding. I made myself utterly miserable and delayed bonding because I was so stressed about "failing." I just want you to know that if you end up stopping pumping or your supply drops, try not to be too hard on yourself. I know from experience it's really easy to get caught up in all the "breast is best" B.S. and Violet is pretty healthy despite only getting breast milk for like 2 weeks. Just my 2 cents. Hugs. Hoping for more good days.

They really push it in the NICU. It's supposed to cut the time she's there and provide several other benefits that I can't remember right now. (according to them)

Thank you :) I'll try not to stress about it. Lots of babies are on formula and do just fine...

Absolutely, but I wish you the best of luck with it. I know it's a pain in the butt!

Sleep is important. You need your sleep because both of you need to stay healthy. I know it is easy for me to say since I am not dealing with it directly. **Hugs** Everything will work out. Pump, get some sleep and I'll talk to you soon.

have you gotten a hospital grade pump?
one of the reasons they encourage you to pump is because its something you can do for her than no one else can, pumping makes some people feel better because of that. maybe cut out the night pumping for now. they eat so little a day at this point even if your supply drops you could still have some for her for awhile, most of the moms i knew from the nicu had quit pumping after the first few weeks if it caused too much stress then its not helping either, of you. maybe check the pumping bord at jm if you havent
it sounds like she is gaining weight nicely
is she off the vent?

I do have a hospital grade pump, but it doesn't seem to matter as much since they're giving her formula too right now. Apparently my milk needs to be supplemented. She's on a c-pap right now.

Nikki, I'm glad to hear your baby is doing well. You just have to stay POSITIVE :) I know it can be very difficult, because I've been through this with my cousin and a good friend of mine. Try not to let the things you've read scare you...I would just stop reading and researching it entirely, because it seems like its feeding you negativity. Just believe with all your heart that things will work out, because they will. <3 Stay strong love, things will be ok. I'm praying for you, as I'm sure many others are too!

Thanks Alex. I'm making an effort to stop and I'm proud to say I managed most of yesterday without googling things about preemies.

I'm starting to realize that I can't do anything no matter what happens. This is all out of my hands.
