You should've seen downtown San Francisco this morning. The moment I step out of my office just after 7am (that's when my shift ends on weekdays), I'm greeted by clumps of bicyclists deliberately riding in tandem to slow traffic. I walk up a block, and bicyclists are circling in the middle of one of the busiest intersections in San Francisco. The cops come, they scatter... only to return almost immediately to start throwing newspaper kiosks into the streets. A minute later, a huge cop vehicle with a giant grill on the front comes barreling down the wrong side of the street at like 40 miles per hour... during heavy traffic... and clears the intersection by ramming into the kiosks and sending them flying. BAKA. Then around thirty assorted police vehicles drive by, a couple pushing 50 miles per hour. This happened in like 5 minutes... and I could write two enormous posts just describing the chaos I witnessed.

I spent over three hours just trying to get out of San Francisco this morning. Strangely enough, I enjoyed it... it was ( ... )

I have to mention, though - I'm ditching Japan in about two months, so if you're planning to look me up, Australia would be a better place to do it.

Still, don't despair; a good friend of mine is from near Santa Barbara, so someday I may be in your neck of the woods. Not soon though - he's just got himself a hot Japanese schoolgirl for a girlfriend and is (understandably) not planning to leave in the near future.

Maybe by the time I get over there I might be better at the DDR stuffs :) I was horribly outdone by a Japanese businessman last week in Kyoto.

Glad to hear I'm keeping you amused. You're totally right, of course. But y'see, now I have a benchmark for dismay and therefore love everywhere else fiercely. Which I feel is positive progress. I get all mopey when I think about twisties.
