I never really thought of reading this book after I saw the movie, though I have read Nicholas Sparks books before, & my aunt has all his books & I could borrow anytime, but eh. That is till I was in North Carolina & was in a need of a book to read. And of course I loved it & again the book is better then the movie, but I really loved that they kept the swan scene in the movie like it is in the book. What I found really funny too was that I was in New Bern, North Carolina not even a year ago, & had no idea thats where Nicholas Sparks had based this book, it was really cool.
The story in a good way isn't your standard fall in love story. It tells the story of Noah, a regular southern, hometown boy on the lower middle class side & Allie an middle upper crust girl, who fall in love during a summer she is living in New Bern, NC. But one day Allie leaves & after unanswered letters, Noah believes hes lost the love of his life & moves, digging as far as he can into work & war. As he rebuilds the new house & land hes bought he finds the house will bring not only fulfillment, but his love back to him. In the book you don't know if, though meant for each other, will she choose him over Lon, her fiancee.
It just a really well written book & you get so easily lost in the love story of these two people that is just so endearing with its simple & striking love that it strikes a cord within. Its just a beautiful book of having faith in love & not letting science or disease break that away.
