i thought the one with the girl and boy that said they didnt need to know that info b/c its 2005. (i cant remember the exact quote.)or how they said it happend in the 1800's. that commercial thing really suprised me. i wish i could have watched the whole thing. i watched the first 1/2 hour.

re: teaching about ww2 and the holocaust in school. i know i was taught about that in at least 2 grades. im thinking more than that though. that is one of those subjects that i know quite a bit about. i think a lot of teens these days believe since its history they dont need to know it. which is very sad.

53% of high school students do not know what/when the Holocaust was.

Maybe students just aren't taught until later on in their high school years ~ it doesn't necessarily mean that people aren't being educated *at all*...

Though I completely agree. Education *is* key to prevent such things from happening again. Blah. :\

well if students aren't being taught until later on in their high school years, that's fucking pathetic (no offense if that's how it was with your school or whatever.)
i can't even remember the first time i learned about the holocaust because it was so long ago. i'm almost positive that the subject was brought up in my public elementry school. i KNOW i learned about it in religious school at a very young age and we did a whole unit on it in six grade in public school.
that may have a little to do with the large jewish population in skokie and the fact that we have/had one of the largest holocaust surviver populations in the country.
school is not the only place to be educated on such things, tho.
it's sad really. some people still deny the holocaust ever happened.

i agree people should be educated on this. all history for that matter.

i have came across some very uneducated people before, and one wondered why hilter was so hated and thought he did nothing wrong. i wanted to hit the person until they had the sense knocked into them.
