The entire evening was turning into a catastrophe.
Wait...scratch that.
It was a catastrophe.
And because of this catastrophe, Watanuki wasn’t sure who he hated more: Yuuko or Doumeki.
The two of them were the entire reason that things had gone wrong from the very start. If only Yuuko san hadn’t sent Doumeki with him on this stupid errand, then stupid Doumeki wouldn’t have yanked Watanuki out of the way of the stupid flowers, and then he wouldn’t have a stupid bite mark on his stupid arm, and then he wouldn’t have had to patch up the stupid archer himself and therefore make them finish the stupid errand later than expected and then he wouldn’t be scrambling to make stupid dinner for stupid Yuuko before she added another several stupid weeks onto his payment. It was enough to make Watanuki’s blood boil, and that wasn’t even the worst of it.
The worst-oh yes, the worst part, was the fact that the archer was now attached to him. As in, wouldn’t let go of his hand. Yuuko said it had something to do with the pollen in the flower’s bite (who the hell could’ve known the flowers had teeth anyway?!) that somehow made the person who was bitten have the need to be touching another person at all times. Granted, the witch had said it would wear off soon, but as far as Watanuki was concerned, that time wasn’t coming quickly enough. Especially when he was trying to cook.
“Would you let go of my hand already? I’m trying to make dinner here!”
“Hn.”
“‘Hn’?! That’s it?! I slave around this house, and you’re not making it any easier! I cannot batter tempura with only one hand!”
Doumeki’s only response was to reach around with his other hand and plug the ear closest to Watanuki, ignoring the words hurled in his direction. When he realized that, once again, the archer was not listening to him, Watanuki settled into a sulk, trying to tug his hand away. Unfortunately, Doumeki seemed rather determined not to let go. With a sigh, the bespeckled boy resigned himself to his fate: stuck with stupid Doumeki holding on to his hand.
“I’m only doing this because you were bitten, just to clarify. That stupid pollen better wear off soon!”
Fortunately for Doumeki, however, Yuuko hadn’t yet mentioned to Watanuki that the pollen should’ve worn off by now. He didn’t feel like letting go of his hand, yet, even if it meant loosing a little more of his hearing. It was just a sacrifice Doumeki was willing to make.
