Nikki stared straight at her ceiling. It was pink with bright orange flowers. She had painted it that way in her second year with Allie and it came out so cute that the girl didn't have the heart to ever paint over it. Though, it still reflected her personality. Bright and happy. It made her think of the tropics

"Tessa, love," Tara said, walking in and taking a seat on Nikki's bed.

She smiled wide at the younger girl and weaved her fingers through her raven black hair.

"Oh right..." Nikki said, almost rolling her eyes.

She still didn't understand why she insisted on that stupid nickname, why her brother was dating her, or why she thought Nikki liked having her around.

"What's up?"

Tara looked blissfully ignorant of Nikki's true feelings. She just smiled bright and went on.

"So, Chris was telling me that you're in your seventh year of Hogwarts! Isn't it just too great!" Tara squeeled, not phrasing it like a question.

"But anyway! I thought you'd totally want this because it was mine when I was there..."

She handed Nikki a gold Ravenclaw pendent.

Slowly Nikki took the pendent, chewing her bottom lip. Of course. This was the same Tara Chris graduated with. They had very close and now they were back together.

"I um...Tara. I mean Tessa...I can't take this," she said, sadness in her voice. "I'm a Hufflepuff."
