2010 MOVIES AND BOOKS In total, I saw 190 movies. For my end list, I was counting only movies watched for the first time in 2010--those movies totaled 108. My goal had been 50, and when I reached that, 100. So, I made that goal :)

- 8 Mile
- 9
- American Outlaws
- Big Fish
- Boondock Saints
- Catch and Release
- Dawn of the Dead 1978
- Driving Lessons
- Drugstore Cowboy
- Friday Night Lights
- Georgia Rules
- Georgy Girl
- Hairspray 2007
- Hannibal Rising
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1
- Into the Wild

- The Talented Mr. Ripley
- The Town
- Toy Story 3
- War of the Worlds 2005
For books--and again, I was only counting books first read in 2010--I had originally et my goal at 30 since I'd only made it to 26 in 2009. However, I reached 30 and upped the goal to 50. In the end I only managed to read 47, but I am incredibly happy with that...somewhat becaue:
A) I also read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at one point (but I'd already read it before)
B) I read some graphic novels and comics as well; since they were fair mixes of words and pictures I didn't feel they 'fit' into a book
challenge
C) I read, for the first time, Cell and Under the Dome by Stephen King--both of which were fairly long hardcover novels (although maybe not the longest book(s) I've ever read)
D) 47 is pretty damn close to 50 anyway :P

I (obviously) recommend Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Michael Crichton. I've been a fan of King for awhile, but only recently became a fan of the latter two. This year I also really got into Sir Arthur Conan Doyle thanks to watching the Sherlock Holmes movie and the new Sherlock series, and immediately went searching my libraries for any SH books I could find. Surprisingly, the one Conan Doyle novel I am recommending here is The Lost World. I loved all of the SH stories, but this is just one of those stories has stuck with me.
(Just one) book I've read this year that I (highly) recommend:
Cell; This book. Zombies, but not zombies. And the whole cell phone thnig was just amazing. The ending really surprised me, but in a way it just screams typical SK ending. I loved this novel a lot. I remember pulling it out of the school library and thinknig, "Shit, this is huge," but then I sat in a corner of the library all through lunch and a spare reading it, took it home after school, and just kept reading it. It was too big to take back to school the next day, but as soon as I was home I was at it again. And finished it. Basically, it pulled me in and I just couldn't let go until I was finished. And yeah, it was that type of book were at the end you're thinking, "That's it?" and wishing there was so much more to read.
I'd rec more but I'm really sick and tired but Cell was my favourite out fo the lot so I felt the need to write something for it :)
One other (tiny) challenge I was trying was to read 100 short stories. I almost didn't reach 100, but thanks to finishing up Kilter: 55 Fictons (as in, 55 short stories) by John Gould yesterday, I managed easily :)
And, of course, music.
