Yesterday was Bobda's last day at Hastings. The two of us plus two of his prior co-workers went up to La Fonda in Artesia and had a really nice meal and we had a lot of fun just chit-chatting and BSing. Both of them are also trying to get out of Hastings, Bobda was just the first to spring forth

Hell, even those two are kind of shut-ins. It took me a while to convince them that I was a fun guy to hang around and that just sitting and talking can be really entertaining.

I would be surprised if Carlsbad didn't tend to attract people who were that way to begin with and make them more that way once they got there. I imagine it is like Socorro on steroids in that regard. I had a devil of a time in Socorro (came close to leaving) before I started going over and having lunch with students.
