So I'm at work, working away, and I look up to see this boi come walking down the stairs. I couldn't tell if he was native american or asian from the distance, and he was probably only about 18 (Jailbait!!!) but his HAIR! He had this long, black, slightly wavy hair that reached down to his lower back. It was so thick and beautiful with dark brown ( Read more... )

I still keep a rosemary bush outside (you're supposed to keep one outside your door to attract the faeries, and it wards off evil) But I don't keep it as my holiday tree... although I might this year. I got an actual tree last year, although a small one. They are expensive, but the lady who I work with owns a tree farm and she let me have one as a christmas gift.
The problem is, the last few times I have gotten a tree, I felt bad for the poor tree. I took its life for my own enjoyment, which only lasted a few weeks. I try to remind myself that these trees are being farmed for just this purpose, but it doesn't help. I love having a tree... I just hate the guilt.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. Yeah, if I had a fireplace or something, I might not feel so bad... or if I knew that afterwards it would go towards a good cause... Instead it sits out by the dumpster where I get to see it lying forlornly upon the ground every time I take out the garbage. Whether it actually gets picked up by the recycling people, I have no idea.
But I must say, I LOVE the scent of pine, and how pretty it is when it's all lit up in the evening. Rosemary trees just don't have the same smell, nor are they big enough to decorate properly.
I suppose I just gotta keep telling myself that a real tree is more environmentally safe than a fake one, and hope there is eventually something I can do with it afterwards to assuage my guilt.
