I know for some people it's a cultural thing. When my aunt and uncle adopted my cousin Suzie from Guatemala, she was six years old and already had ear piercings for quite some time.
that's a good point, but i doubt that Suzie had it done with a piercing gun by some 20-something-year-old at the mall. Piercing guns are actually pretty violent...it shoves a piece of metal through your ear with sheer force. at least when someone does it manually with a needle, it's probably a bit more gently done...
Ya, idk, for ear piercings... it's definitely better to wait until the kid decides whether or not they want them. Conversely, for things like circumcision? WAYYYYY better doing it in the kid's like first few days of life so he has NO idea what's going on and will never, ever remember how horrible that felt. I'm glad I don't remember that... *shudders*
i can just picture it now "free circumcision with purchase of earrings" that would get a response. however, the ears don't have that many nerve endings...ear lobes are far less sensitive than the area cut at circumcision.
