You know, there's no rush to jump into titles. You can always try just hanging out with the kid one-on-one for awhile. You're allowed to "date" without being exclusive. I think rushing into the "You're girlfriend/I'm your boyfriend" bit is very much a high school thing.

while you have a point, i don't exactly date. so if i were dating him, for me it would be exclusive automatically, solely because i really don't date.

I don't like to call it dating unless there's actually a relationship... I mean, previously to a relationship, your'e just hanging out like friends, so I don't see why it gets its own title :P
