Maybe I'm getting sappy in my old age *wink*

But this brought tears to my eyes.

I hope you don't mind if I share this... you're amazing.

I used to think that I would fall in love with one woman. If I was careful and astute I would recognize her and not fall into any detours or traps, and my life would unfold like a movie - start to finish. Later, I grew a bit more pessimistic and seemed to align myself with the idea that everyone has a certain amount of relationships in their life, which come and go and pass the time. But I didn't like that idea either.

i have this same quandry all the time. soulmates. companions for the moment. neither idea fully fits. at least you feel the same way. this is lovely by the way. and before sunrise is one of my top ten films of all time. i watch it at least once every six months. though the older i get the more i relate to before sunset. funny how that happened... regardless i am such a romantic. though my past would indicate otherwise. oh well. miss you. xo

It strikes me fancy to read about ending with you, because really all endings are just new beginnings that we are not necessarily ready to accept and are definitely not used to. As for not knowing, I think the reality of this life is that we are all wandering around without any instructions, absorbing everything that we possibly can to gain for the later experiences.... this is both negative and positive. Negative, because we don't necessarily enjoy the actual moment until (as you stated) after the fact. Positive, because realizing that we are learning and feeling that is the greatest reward we can have in this life.
