I was thinking the same thing. I don't know what the good fics are any more, or good authors. As much as I love Blackraptor, it just doesn't fulfill the need I have to look over a fic and its summary and decide whether it's worth clicking. I wish AO3 was used more, and its rec system. The question is, who is going to do all the work? It's a terribly time consuming project, but I want it still; I'm such a selfish creature!
Heh! Yeah, that's the rub, isn't it? :) Finding "someone, somewhere" to get it done. :)
If I could figure out a platform that would work best, I think I'd be willing to devote time to getting recs up on a site somewhere, but I'm not nearly well-read enough in the fandom right now to have recs for all characters and pairings. That was part of what made Death Dogs cool... that they had ALLLL the bases covered. :) Equal opportunity Mag7 love.
I wonder if "crowd-sourcing" it would work. Putting out a general call for recs, and compiling the results somewhere.
I remember there was some talk a year or so ago about the viability of moving Blackraptor to a database setup, but Nancy said she did not have the knowledge or the time to learn, which I totally understand! That's a huge number of fics she has there. You could maybe put the idea out there, and see if anyone might be interested because damn, I really feel the absence of that site! If only things aren't the way they are with work and school, I'd love to participate. :sad puppy:
