Your going to waste Golden Week by studying?!?!?! The grades are pass/fail, so it really shouldn't matter so much.
You're in KYOTO for heaven's sake! DO SOMETHING!!!!!!! Have you gone anywhere outside of the Teramachi area? Go to Kinkakuji, Sanjusangen-do, Arashiyama, ANYWHERE!!!!
You are in Japan for nine months, so use it to your advantage. You might never get this opportunity to travel ever again. Do you want to look back on study abroad and say, "I studied. That's it?"
I'm sorry for getting in a snit, but I really really think you shouldn't worry so much about studying and such. Don't you want to experience other parts of Japan? It's really not THAT expensive to go to other places. Japan is more than Teramachi, Daimonji, and the language.

Of course Japan is more than just Kyoto, and of course I'd like to go to other places. There always seems to be something that prevents it.
1.) It's hard to make plans with friends because about 75% of them end up falling through.
2.) Many friends will be gone travelling already during Golden Week.
3.) Most people have been to the places that I want to go, therefore don't really feel like going back again.
I'd prefer not to travel alone; nobody that I know has travelled to these places by themselves and nobody that I know would want to, and I'm no different.

Sorry, hope the previous post didn't sound snippy or anything, I was just stating the reasons I felt. Hopefully I will get a few willing friends and travel out of Kyoto soon. At least to the deer park in Nara, hopefully!
Hi - I won't be so far away. IF we can sell our house, we will rent a condo/apartment in the area for at least two years. Won't be the same for Christmas Eve but maybe we'll have something big enough for the crowd. If not, we'll squeeze in somewhere else. Try to have some extra fun and adventure during Golden Week. I'd like to hear about it. Love, Aunt Joan
