Asking the brain trust…

OK, my blackberry pearl is two years old, the battery barely holds a charge, and the trackball is flaky at best. Most of the time it wont scroll down. So, its time for a new phone. I am staying with AT&T, but not sure what to do about a phone. Hence I need your advice.

Option 1: Refurbished iPhone 3G 8GB for $50. Currently showing as out of stock ( Read more... )

Well, I don't know much about the backflip per se, but I like the Android OS a lot. Sure, iPhones have some cool features, (I'll let the Apple zealots enumerate those for you, as I'm sure they will) but especially for free, I personally can't see how I'd go with anything but the Backflip.

Its not free - its $100 after the rebate i.e. I'd have to lay out $200 and wait to get the rebate.

Ahhh, I mis-read that, sorry. Still, I like the Android OS a lot. After using mine since October, I'm less interested in an iPhone than I ever was.

My boss *loves* her iPhone... my office is all Mac... and the computer she bought me is a refurb - we had to use the warranty and yes, the customer service we great. Now the trade off is that your monthly bill goes up with an iPhone (just had this discussion with my boss - you get the phone cheap but the cost comes later in your monthly service payments.) If I wasn't with Verizon I'd have the iPhone already : )

They have provioded me excellent service for ~10 years now. No reason to switch, plus we just renewed A's line so we have two years without an early termination fee.
