based on the agreeing responses to last night's post i want to issue a challenge to everyone on my friend's list who is disappointed in the takeover of twitter/tumble/facebook and the rapid disintegration of the once beloved livejournal network. it is a call to arms for everyone who wants to see livejournal restored to its former glory.

this is a multipart challenge, and if you are taking part i urge you to also share it with your friends lists as well.

LIVEJOURNAL RESTORATION MOVEMENT 2011

PART ONE
FOR THE NEXT 14 DAYS (or two weeks if you prefer) POST EVERY DAY!
Doesn't have to be an essay. 3-5 sentences is good enough. Who cares if you think you don't have anything "interesting" to say. This is a "journal", isn't it? Talking about what you had for lunch is a good enough post, and you are on my friends list so I'd LOVE to read about it.
Every day.
Fourteen days.
Any topic.
If you miss a day, post twice the next day. Only stipulation is that you should try not to use friend filters if they can be avoided!

PART TWO
MAKE NEW FRIENDS!
It used to not be weird to friend people on lj out of the blue, just because you thought they were interesting. During the next 14 day period I urge you to use lj's search feature and find someone who has similar interests to you and send them a friend request! At least one person! It used to be commonplace. And for those who have been around lj for a while, they'll probably be delighted to once again find a friend request that isn't from a russian spambot for the first time in ages. They'll be happy, and you'll be happy because you'll have made a new friend.

PART THREE
COMMENT ON AT LEAST ONE POST ON YOUR FRIENDS LIST PER DAY
In order to encourage the former community livejournal enjoyed and all in all to make your friends list feel like there's any reason at all for them to keep posting on lj, at least try to leave some comments to others. Sometimes it's hard, but don't you like when people comment to you? In that case, pay it forward and comment to someone else. The more people who are posting, the easier it is to make one simple comment a day.

PART FOUR
CUT DOWN ON YOUR OTHER SOCIAL SITES (Optional)
This is really at your discretion, but if you're wearing yourself out posting 10 status updates a day on facebook, why not cut it down to 5 a day, and post the other 5 things you wanted to say on lj? Your friend list has you on it for a reason- give them something to read! (Optional because some people are perfectly capable of posting on both, and some people don't use any others :B)

the more people who participate, the better lj will be. maybe i'm living in the past, but i've been on livejournal for eight years now and i'm tired of clicking on my friends list every day to never see a word from any of the people who used to post daily.

(if you're a supporter of the LJRM feel free to copy and paste the challenge to your own journal for your friends to join in :B)
