Uh oh, and yaaay!

Ok, so last night after some intoxication, I decided to order all my parts for my computer. I think I got a good deal on pretty much all of it. I managed not to order the video card, still banking on John for a final word on any possible discount or at least the info he is going to tell me on what 7800 to get. However, I did make a mistake and I am ( Read more... )

Uh why wouldnt you want a serial ata hd? its faster, and has a smaller profile cable wise, and I think the mobo only has serial connections.

Yeah it looks like there is acutally 4 serial ports for the mobo. See I figured the damn thing was wrong... here let me post a link and let the experts decide.

250GB Western Digital 7200RPM Serial ATA/150 8MB HDD
Part #: WD2500JD
250 GB formatted capacity
7200 RPM spindle speed
ATA/150 data transfers
8 MB buffer

Actually looking at it the mobo has ide ports. So you can have either or.

I think though that hd would be better suited in IDE format as that serial xfer rate is far lower than it could be... Prolly why it is as cheap as it is. If you can get a ide ata166 drive, then you would be better than that serial drive. But if the ide one is ata133 then you would be better off with the serial drive.

So the company I bought the hard drive from has “updated the order” which I assume means I am getting the IDE drive I thought I needed last night when I sent a panic email late into the night. So I guess I am going IDE and not serial. Oh well, prolly not enough diff to notice, as far as I am concerned.

Also, got a call from Visa for all the charges to multiple online websites. That’s cool. Either that or an elaborate phishing scam. Oh well, I guess only time and frequent checking of the credit report will tell.

Oh crap. That file that took 2 milliseconds to load might take 2.3 milliseconds now. Shucks.

Sounds like some m4d l33+ sK00l1in' will be going on soon. Whats the occasion for the new gear?

got a nice return, and really wanted a smoking machine to start playing some games again.

KT and I have been discussing starting up a MMO together. But I am not sure how long that will last. So I am getting something that I will be happy with.

I had a couple of friends who were a couple and they played wow together... Or tried. The internet connection they used kept crapping out on them in game. But as long as KT is interested in what is being played, the two of you will have a blast. I remember back in the day with Brandon and Gina (or gena) and Janel... Gamers who are a couple can flourish well if they dont lose focus of the fun.
