A/N: Historical Fiction. Technically this is Philippine history, though this piece is set at a time when I had just turned two years old. Loosely based on what my family did during the eruption of the Pinatubo volcano in 1991. 517 words.

WOW... Pinatubo... that was some awful volcano. Mt. Pinatubo... I remember seeing it.. god - scarY!!

I'm so glad his Mom wasn't anywhere near, and could write and reassure him. And send him some souvenir ash. It makes it somehow better knowing they survived..it did seem as if everything had gone... gone!

Yes, everything was gone in some towns. But the volcanic ash did blow as far as many miles down south. To this day though one can still find lahar for several provinces around the volcano.
