Everyone knew about Nishikido Ryo. He was notorious for his cut-throat attitude and his disregard for showing mercy to anyone. He was the most well-known space pirate in existence, but the only one who was completely impossible to catch. In fact, he was so good at slipping out of the hands of the authorities that some people doubted he really existed. To some people he was more like an urban legend, a story used to scare young cadets training to be the next space police. He was the last person anyone wanted to find on their patrol.

There was one particular police cadet that always bragged that one day he would bring Nishikido Ryo to justice. This cadet's name was Yamashita Tomohisa. The day of his graduation ceremony he spouted the same declaration over a rather large looking pint of beer. Koyama, his newly assigned partner and previous classmate winced over his own much smaller glass. It wasn't that he couldn't hold his liquor as well, it was just that Yamashita enjoyed getting much more drunk when the occasion called for it. Koyama wasn't exactly afraid of the notorious pirate, but he didn't really want to get into any trouble he couldn't get back out of. Unfortunately, he had been partnered with Yamashita, who had always been full of bravado. Before ever even going out on the job he acted like a hero. It made the girls go crazy, but it just made Koyama's stomach knot up with nerves. Luckily, Shige, his best friend who had opted to walk on the path of special intelligence and would always be working from home base. Koyama would have chosen to do the same, only he didn't feel like he was smart enough to work behind one of those fancy computers, shouting out information at a moment's notice. It was much easier to join the force, the front line. And he did want to make the world a better place too. It was just that after spending four years in the academy, the job had started to lose some of its glamor. But maybe he had just felt that way because he had ended up with the lowest passing grade in his class.

"Cheer up," Yamashita said loudly, clapping him on the back. "You'll get your chance to prove yourself. We both will."

A strange glint in Yamashita's eyes made Koyama take a somewhat larger drink of his beer. After not getting a response, Yamashita seemed to decide he would just keep talking anyway. "I got news that we'll be heading out in two days. Two days! Can you believe how lucky we are?" Yamashita leaned closer and added in a lower voice. "Don't tell anyone, but my source is the Domoto Brothers, so you can be sure it's reliable." Koyama nodded and attempted to smile, which Yamashita seemed to accept because he sat back with a smug grin of his own. The Domoto brothers weren't really brothers, but they were two of the most famous officers. They'd graduated top of their class, and they had a record for bringing criminals to justice. No one could compare to them. Koyama didn't feel like not taking it seriously. He doubted they would lie to Yamapi, the academy's brightest future officer.

The news of an upcoming mission just made it difficult for Koyama to sleep that night. Even when Shige pulled him aside after they left the bar to say that he would be supporting him from home, Koyama didn't really feel much better. The thought of being alone in space with Yamashita and a bunch of criminals didn't sound too appealing to him. Maybe if the criminals were taken out of the equation. The thought of being in space alone with Yamashita wasn't too bad. That was the last thought Koyama had before drifting off to sleep, which probably wasn't a good idea considering what the content of his dreams ended up being.

Departing for the mission was bittersweet. Koyama couldn't help but feel a little excited, despite how his nerves constantly made butterflies zoom around his stomach. Yamashita made him feel both better and worse. He was both afraid of the other man getting them into trouble, and glad that he would be there in case there was trouble. Yamashita had always been very capable, and somehow Koyama knew he would be safe if he was with Yamashita. The mission itself was a small one, something that Koyama didn't feel too worried about. There was a small disturbance on a human inhabited planet of very large beetle-like bugs, also known as Titan Hercules. An infestation of them had landed and were causing trouble. Yamashita grumbled about how easy that would be, and that he hadn't been hired to traffic space bugs around, but Koyama was really relieved that they were starting off with something easy.

As they drew closer to the planet, Koyama started to have a bad feeling. Maybe the bugs wouldn't be the only thing they had to deal with, maybe something unexpected would happen. Really, they should have sent a more experienced officer with them. Even if it was such a trivial thing, even if they had better things to do. Yamashita seemed to sense his fear, which made him put on even more of a bravado appearance. Koyama appreciated it, especially when the other man wrapped an arm around his shoulder and pulled him closer to his side. He could feel the tight muscles pressing against his arm, and they felt really good.

"I'm fine," he assured the other man when asked if he was going to be okay. "It's just some space bugs, right?"

And they were definitely space bugs. Koyama had seen models of them, even a stuffed specimen, but they seemed so much larger in person. When they touched down and stepped out of the ship, one landed right in front of Koyama while the others buzzed overhead. They were large beetles with wings. The size was something Koyama wasn't sure he would ever get used to. The one in front of him came nearly up to his chest, making him squeal and jump back. Yamashita was quick to fire a shot, knocking the thing clear off its feet.

"Okay. We need to go check on the civilians while the crew wrap the net around the titan beetles. Then we can head out. Mission complete." Yamashita almost sounded regretful about that fact before he stood up straighter, held his gun out in front of him, and started charging through the swarm. Koyama followed close behind his back, gripping his own gun incredibly tight. The bugs just seemed to get heavier and heavier as they made their way closer to the houses.

"Good thing they're not too dangerous. Just imagine if we were dealing with something poisonous," Yamaahita said with a hollow laugh right after he fought one of the bugs off of his back. Not too dangerous, but they could crush a man's skull with their bite. "What's that?"

The sudden question from Yamashita had Koyama frowning. He squinted through the swarm of bugs. "What?" but Yamashita was already running off towards the source of his curiosity.

"It might be someone we need to help," he called back as he ran. Koyama felt an odd twisting in his stomach, but he quickly started running after Yamashita. Suddenly one of the bugs landed in front of him, forcing Koyama to a halt. It's eyes seemed to glint yellow as it slowly moved its feelers in front of its face. Koyama aimed a gun at it, but suddenly there was another shot, knocking the gun out of his hands. As the bugs feelers reached his face, as if discerning what he was, Koyama cradled his hand and stepped back. The bug didn't seem too interested in following him, so Koyama jerked his head around to try and see the source of the shot - honestly Yamashita couldn't have messed up that badly. He had every intention of jumping for his gun, but the sight of a young man distracted him momentarily. He didn't look anything like a local, not just his clothing, but also his accessories. They were obviously of an advanced sort, making Koyama sure he was from another planet. His eyes lit up with a mischievousness as he opened his mouth to laugh.

"That's what you get for interfering with my work," he called out, still laughing. Koyama could barely hear him over the bugs. The man didn't seem interested in him any more than that because he turned and ran off in the other direction.

Koyama suddenly had an epiphany about the other man. He should have known when he saw him. No doubt. The other man was a space pirate. Koyama felt worry and fear rise in him. The bugs had been sent there on purpose. Something else really was going on here. He had to warn Yamashita! Koyama looked around for his gun, which one of the bugs had taken residence on top of. Koyama frowned and felt a sick sort of feeling in his stomach. Fine. He had a smaller gun. Well, he wasn't going to go digging for it. He just didn't know how much his other gun would be of use against the big bugs. Not taking any more time to think about it, Koyama rushed off in the direction Yamashita had gone.

It wasn't long before Koyama saw Yamashita running toward him as well. "Koyama," he called, relief flooding his features. "I heard a shot that didn't sound like our guns. I was worried something had happened to you."

"I'm fine," Koyama said when they got closer, a little out of breath. "There's other people here, pirates I think." Koyama could have sighed at how Yamashita's face lit up, but somehow he refrained. "He shot the gun out of my hand and then ran off."

As soon as he explained, Yamashita looked down at his hand. He reached out for it and held it up closer to his face. "You're bleeding a little. Here, take this," he said, pulling a cloth out of his pocket. "You never know," he said with a slight shrug, as if trying to explain what it was doing there. "So, we need to find this pirate and arrest him. There's no time to make a call."

That didn't sound like protocol at all, but Koyama knew he wouldn't be able to change Yamashita's mind. He was just wondering what in the world the crew was doing when he noticed the bugs suddenly starting to swarm in the direction they had come from. "Must be the bait," he said slowly. "That will help clear things up," he said excitedly. Less bugs would help them not only find the pirate, but would also make it easier to find victims and their way back to the ship when they were done.

Yamashita was moving almost as soon as Koyama had finished speaking. He seemed much more interested in catching a pirate than in getting rid of the bugs, their actual mission. As they walked, Yamashita questioned him about the other man's looks. Suddenly he stopped and stiffened. "What you just described," Yamashita rounded on him with a large grin, placing a hand on either shoulder. "You realize who that sounds like, don't you?"

Koyama slowly shook his head, which made Yamashita sigh. "Don't you study pirates at all? They're our number one enemy. You've got to keep track of the criminals we're trying to catch. Anyway," he took a breath and leaned back, the big grin returning, "It sounds exactly like the pirate Nishikido."

Koyama felt his eyes widen. "What? No way. It couldn't be."

Wasn't he supposed to be ruthless, wouldn't have he just shot Koyama dead back there? When he voiced his doubts, Yamashita just shrugged. "Maybe he was just having fun. He's cocky, not worried about getting caught. We have to change that. Do you know how much people would admire us, what kind of awards we would get if we captured Nishikido? We might even get automatic promotions."

Koyama didn't really see the point in interrupting him while he was basking in the glory he hadn't won yet. Instead he found his eyes drawn to what was behind Yamashita. Something moving, something big. "Yamashita," he almost croaked before finding his voice. "Yamashita, look out!" he called while pulling the other man to the side. They looked after the large worm looking creature. "What was that?" Koyama asked, still a little shocked.

Yamashita shook his head. "Don't know. It would have plowed right over us though. At least it's not coming back."

Nodding slowly, Koyama started to think this was all too unpredictable. "We should report back. There are too many unexpected variables. We might need back-up."

A pained look crossed Yamashita's face, and Koyama knew he was having a mental battle with what he knew he should do and what he wanted to do. "Okay," he said after a moment. "Let's go."

Breathing a small sigh of relief, Koyama turned and looked for the ship. It was moving in the air, closing an impossibly large net over the huge swarm of the titans. They had been walking for a little bit, Koyama keeping his eyes open for any signs of pirates when he heard a sound over his shoulder. After turning quickly, Koyama felt his breath catch in his throat. "Yamashita. Yamapi!" He called out after the other man's retreating back. Koyama felt torn between going back to the ship or following his partner. His hesitation was costing him valuable time, and he couldn't risk it. Taking a deep breath, Koyama steeled his nerves and ran off after Yamashita. Why was he so set on catching this guy? So much that he was willing to risk the danger of that huge worm creature. Yamashita was a bit of a glory hog, but he wasn't stupid.

Without the bugs getting in the way, Koyama was able to move much quicker, but he knew that meant Yamashita would be able to as well. There were some houses in the distance, more like shacks actually. They had a very earthy quality to them, making Koyama wonder if they were actually made out of earth. What could be in that place that a space pirate would want? It seemed so weird. As he drew closer to the first house, Koyama became very conscious of his surroundings. He knew that it would be much easier for someone to take him by surprise out there than out in the open, and he didn't want anyone firing another shot at him. He held the smaller gun in his hand, hoping that it would be useful against anything that might attack him.

Suddenly as he passed the third house of his right, Koyama heard someone yell. A sound that startled him. He immediately knew it wasn't Yamashita, but he knew it was also his duty to help civilians. As he moved closer to the house, still careful, suddenly a scorpion-like creature scuttled out. Koyama felt his eyes widen and he froze. It ran past him, making Koyama thankful he didn't get the anger of a poisonous stinger, but then he also realized the reason someone screamed might be that severe. Rushing into the house a bit quicker, Koyama darted his eyes around the empty room.

A man was huddled over, clutching his leg on the far side of the room. "Are you okay? Were you stung.." He stopped mid sentence and mid step when the man looked up and he realized just who he was looking at. The thought passed through his mind that if this really was Nishikido then it would be incredibly easy to catch him now, provided none of his cronies showed up. A tugging between what he knew was right, and what he knew was his duty pulled at him, but for Koyama there was no real question what he needed to do. The pale color of his face, the way his body was tensed in reaction to the pain and probably also to being found. Koyama had joined the force to help people, and that's what he was going to do.

Nishikido tensed even more when he got closer. "Come to arrest me?" his voice had that playful tone still, like he was mocking Koyama despite his own situation, but it was also tight with pain. Koyama could see the blood from the wound, staining his pants.

"I can help," Koyama heard his voice come out very soft, which sounded a little strange considering the person he was looking at.

"I don't need your help." with that statement, Ryo started to move. His attempt to stand failed pretty badly when he put a little bit of weight of his injured leg and toppled back over. "Shit!"

"Do you know how to treat it?"

"What?" Nishikido's eyes snapped to him with a furry that Koyama thought was hardly warranted, considering he was trying to help.

"If you don't treat it immediately, you'll be dead within the next fifteen minutes. I have no doubt."

Nishikido's face twisted into a grimace as he seemed to weigh the options. "Why would you help me? I won't give you anything in return."

"I didn't expect anything. It's always been what I wanted, to help people. You're a person too."

The other man scoffed, but Koyama could see his features soften slightly. "Fine. How do you treat a sting from whatever that was?"

Smiling, Koyama moved closer and knelt beside Nishikido, something that he noticed made the other man stiffen even more. "Well, there's an anti-poison. The creature is a local, so I brought some with me. I thought my partner was definitely the type to rush into something, so I wanted to be prepared."

As he spoke, Koyama pulled a bag strapped to his hip open and pulled out a little bottle. He could feel the space pirate's eyes on him as he moved, but he couldn't bring himself to meet that gaze. Instead, he focused his attention on what he was doing as he pulled out a small syringe and started to fill it with the medicine.

"It should work within a few minutes. You won't kill me as soon as you're better right?"

A small laugh came from the other man, something that sounded strained but made Koyama feel a little more comfortable. "Maybe you should start running just in case."

Koyama looked up at him finally, with every intention of threatening not to help someone who would possibly kill him in a moment, but the words died on his tongue when he saw the deep, dark eyes staring right into his. They were close, closer than Koyama had ever been to a criminal. He felt his body tense in a surprising way, and he yanked his vision back down to look at the other man's injury, as much as his body screamed for him to do the opposite. It just wasn't right, to let himself be attracted to a criminal. Although he couldn't see his expression, Koyama felt like Nishikido might have been able to tell what happened. And although he didn't say anything, he felt like he could still feel those dark eyes, staring a hole right through him.

Koyama pulled out a knife from the pack, something that he noticed made Nishikido uncomfortable. "Don't worry. It's for your clothes."

"Oh really?" the other man asked in a tone that made Koyama once again feel like he'd been seen right through. He felt heat flood his face, and he stared super intensely at the pants around the wound, not letting them stray anywhere else.

The pirate tensed as Koyama started to cut the material. It didn't take long to reveal enough skin to find a place that he could inject the medicine. The skin around the wound itself was starting to darken, making Koyama stomach turn sourly. Nishikido sucked in a breath.

"Hurry and do it," he ground out between clenched teeth. "It burns really bad."

Koyama nodded and moved the syringe closer to Nishikido's leg. He found the vein and used his other hand to press against his leg as he slowly slid it in.

"I said hurry," Nishikido almost yelled at him, something Koyama did his best to ignore as he pushed the end of the syringe until the anti-poison was all gone. He pulled the syringe back and then gave the man an uncertain look before realizing his hand was still on his leg. He jerked it back, feeling blood rush into his face again.

A smirk spread across the pirate's face, despite the sweat slowly dripping down, and the pain he was no doubt in. "You should have been a doctor, not a space cadet." Koyama felt surprised by the statement. He'd never thought being a doctor was really a possibility for him. Maybe for Shige. He'd always been smart, but not him. It only made Koyama blush again when he added, "It would look a lot cuter on you."

Suddenly a loud noise caught both of their attention. It was the sound of a motor, and upon looking at Nishikido's face, Koyama knew what it was.

"That's my cue," the pirate said with a smirk. Koyama pulled back from him as he staggered to his feet. "Guess I'll be okay now, right?"

Nodding slowly, Koyama answered, "You should be."

"Good." Nishikido paused for a moment as he stood by the door. "We'll keep this between us, okay? I don't want to mess up my reputation, and I'm sure you don't want to get fired, right?" he asked and only waited for an affirming nod before stepping out. "Guess this is goodbye," he called back.

For a moment, Koyama just sat there. The ship outside was really loud, and he had the feeling that Nishikido wouldn't want him to walk out directly after. Taking a shaky breath, Koyama thought about how bad what he'd just done actually was, according to rules anyway. He definitely couldn't tell anyone about it. Pulling himself to his feet, Koyama headed for the door. He peeked his head out and saw a grinning guy with short brown hair, pulling Nishikido up into the ship. Koyama sighed and thought about how it was his first time seeing a pirate ship. First, and likely last time he would ever see that one.

Suddenly, Koyama remembered that Yamashita had run off, and was possibly still looking for Nishikido. Koyama walked out the door with every intention of finding him. He started to make his way past the houses, looking for any sign of the other man. He tried his radio, but no one was picking up. After several moments, the sound of that motor returned, coming from behind him and getting rapidly louder. Koyama felt dread fill him as he assumed Nishikido really didn't leave survivors. He twirled around and found himself only a few feet away from the bottom of the ship as it stopped to hover there. Nishikido's head appeared as a door on the side opened. The man had a set frown on his face, something that only confused Koyama.

"Are you following me?" Koyama called out, receiving him a scoff in return.

"I should just leave you here, but I owe you one. So," Nishikido seemed to pause in thought as he looked off, and Koyama wondered what in the world he was thinking. Then after a moment, he looked back and continued, "Your ship left you here. I don't know why, other than to say I'm not surprised by something like that from the space police. They're all good for nothing."

Disbelief seeped through every part of Koyama. They wouldn't have left him! "You can't be serious."

"Well, I'm not lying," Nishikido looked a little indignant. "You won't survive out here with those little monster bugs running around. The locals won't protect you either. They've all gone into hiding. You're only chance is to get on my ship."

Koyama looked at him doubtfully, which made the other man sneer slightly.

"I won't wait forever for you to decide. You have three seconds to start moving." Koyama looked off in the direction of where his ship, his crew had been. He couldn't believe that they'd left him, not on the word of a pirate.

Suddenly Nishikido made a frustrated noise, somewhere between a loud sigh and a growl. "Fine. Have it your way."

Koyama thought the other man was about to leave him, but suddenly he jumped down from the platform and walked right up to him. Taking a step back, Koyama put his hands up, his eyes widening in shock as Nishikido reached for him. His arms wrapped around Koyama's waist, and he was thrown over the other man's shoulder before he had a chance to get away.

"Wait. My crew will come back. They wouldn't leave me!" Koyama called out in protest, but Nishikido didn't stop until he was back inside the door of the ship and the door was closed, at which point he dropped Koyama on the floor.

The brown haired space agent cradled his thigh where it had hit the floor. Nishikido only stared at him for a moment before responding, "Would you have been willing to gamble your life on a bunch of people who barely know you, who would rather follow the rules than save one small existence? I wouldn't." Nishikido's expression was sour as he started to walk off. Feeling a little panicked, Koyama stood quickly to follow him.

"What are you going to do with me now?" he asked, way more than a little concerned.

"Dunno yet," Nishikido said with a shrug as he walked along the corridor.

Suddenly another guy walked out from a room. "Captain, Akanishi wants to know if we can take off now. He says he's really impatient to get going," the slightly androgynous dressed man with light brown hair said. His eyes moved to Koyama and settled on him, seeming to penetrate right through him. "Who is this anyway?"

"That's my business. Tell Akanishi we can go, and bring this guy to some clothes that will fit him. I don't want anyone walking around my ship in what he's wearing. I'll be on deck, so when he's done you can bring him there. Don't kill or torture him in the meantime, okay. He saved my life."

The other man's mouth twisted slightly, but he nodded as Nishikido walked off. Koyama took a step after him, but felt a hand pushing him back. "I don't think so. That would be against Captain Ryo's orders."

"Ryo," Koyama felt himself repeat the name, assuming that was the pirate's given name.

The brunette frowned again before barking at him. "Come on. We better get you out of those clothes before anyone else sees you and decides to shoot you down. Follow me. The name's Ueda, by the way."

"Koyama," the space policeman said in a quiet voice, although he wasn't sure how much the other man was even listening to him. What had he gotten himself into?

About an hour later, Koyama was dressed in a pair of somewhat uncomfortably tight black pants and a light gray t-shirt. Ueda still gave him an untrustworthy glare before making him walk in front the whole way to the deck. Nishikido smirked when they entered, something that made Koyama feel entirely strange. He tried to give some sort of confident look back, but only managed to twist his lips a little. He couldn't believe he was on a pirate ship, on Nishikido's pirate ship.

His eyes landed on another man, who had turned to look him up and down. He smirked and turned to look at Nishikido. "This the one? He's not all that cute," he added, turning back to his computer after dodging some sort of stuffed thing that squeaked when it hit.

"Ryo likes to keep something around to throw at people, so we make sure it's not something that will hurt."

"Oh," was all Koyama said. He was still stuck on the cute thing, but he didn't really know what to make of it.

"Alright, stop kidding around before the rest of the crew comes around," Ryo barked as if someone had been fooling around. No one looked surprised though. Ueda moved to sit down in what Koyama assumed was his own chair. Nishikido was smack dab in the middle of the room. He suddenly jumped up from his seat and moved closer to Koyama. "Come on. I decided where your room is."

The grin, and the familiar way Nishikido put his arm around Koyama's shoulder made him feel all tense inside, but it oddly wasn't anything he wanted to fight. As they walked, Ryo spoke about the ship itself mainly. Koyama could tell how proud he was of it, something he thought was kind of cute. He'd never really thought of a pirate as a person, not until he met one. But really, they weren't all that bad. He didn't think so yet anyway.

The room Nishikido led him to was surprisingly nice. The walls looked like the rest of the ship, all shiny and metallic. There was a small table on top of a dark red, and very plush looking rug. Further into the room was a closet, that upon opening it, Koyama found it held more clothes of a similar size to the ones he'd been given. It had a fair amount of room as well. There was also a queen sized bed with a maroon blanket with black trimmings on top. Nishikido looked proud of himself as he gestured to the various objects in the room. Koyama couldn't help but wonder if any of it had been stolen, or if any of it hadn't been really.

A few days went by, with Koyama meeting much more of the crew. There was a very pleasant man named Masuda, who worked as a chef. He cooked really good, and Koyama found him one of the easiest people to be around. The pilot he'd met on deck was Akanishi, and generally their interaction had been him lightly teasing Koyama. There was a mechanic named Nakamaru, that Koyama had also met one day while getting food. He seemed to be close to Masuda, and was also alright to spend time with. Ueda had stopped frowning at him as much, but he still felt some general dislike there, making him wonder what he had against space police, other than just being a pirate. Then, there was Ryo. He'd been pretty friendly from day one, but that only seemed to grow. It wasn't the sort of friendly like Masuda or Nakamaru, but the kind that involved Ryo touching him, sitting close to him or saying weird things to him and making him completely flustered.

That afternoon, Ryo had told him to have dinner with him, something that Koyama doubted was a request. He felt his insides squirm at the thought of eating with Ryo, eating alone with him. Before going, Koyama decided to try out his radio. He didn't want anyone to keep worrying about him back home. He'd been working on it for the time he'd been there, trying to make certain that no one would know he was using it before he did so. Turning the knob and dialing Yamashita's call number, Koyama waited. He could have contacted Shige as well, but he didn't want them to be able to track him so quickly. As odd as it sounded, he didn't want Nishikido and his crew to be found. They were too nice to go to jail, some of them anyway. At least, he didn't want to be the one to bring them down.
Yamashita's face flashed onto the little screen. "Koyama, is that you? Oh, thank god you're alive."

Koyama smiled a little and nodded. "Yeah, and you're alright too. I wasn't sure if you'd made it back to the ship either."

"I did," Yamashita continued, sounding and looking really guilty. "I'm so sorry. I came back, running from that stupid gigantic worm, and I thought you'd already be back on the ship, like we planned. They thought you were with me, so we took off. When we realized you weren't actually there, we came back, but couldn't find you anywhere."

A sense of relief flooded Koyama as he heard that they hadn't left him on purpose, that they had gone back to look for him too. "I'm fine. Don't worry. I got some help from a passing ship."

Yamashita smiled, looking much happier. "Great. Where are you? We can send a ship out to rendezvous."

Koyama was silent for a moment as he felt his mind racing through that thought. There was no way he could do something like that. "Umm, that's not necessary. They'll drop me off somewhere I'm sure. I can contact you then. I don't want to force them off their course."

The face looking at him from the screen grew really serious, and Koyama knew he'd messed up. "Koyama, what kind of ship are you on exactly?"

Koyama felt dread seep into him, and he knew he had to cut the line now or Yamashita might try and trace it. "I'm sorry. My signal's really bad out here, which is why I didn't call for days. I'll contact you later with more info."

With the last word, Koyama turned the switch back off and let out a long sigh. Had he really just done that? No officer in their right mind would make a call home and decide to stay on a pirate ship. Instead of dwelling on it too long though, Koyama got up to get himself ready for dinner.

When he was ready and leaving his room, Koyama jumped slightly in surprise when he found Ryo standing outside his door, waiting for him. "Thought you might get lost," the man explained with a teasing grin. "Come on."

Ryo's room was a bit larger than his, naturally. It was only Koyama's second time in there. The first had been part of his 'ship tour', something he was pretty sure happened just so Ryo could show off. The furniture was pretty similar, both in design and set up. Ryo led him to the table, filled with an assortment of food, wine, and water. Ryo sat and gestured for him to do the same, before reached out for the wine bottle. "So, what have you been up to today? You weren't wondering around as much as usual."

Koyama felt his gut clench as he thought about how bad it could potentially be for Ryo to find out he'd made that call home. "Not much really. I don't really know what to do with myself sometimes."

Ryo's gaze seemed to pierce right into him, something that still kind of unnerved Koyama. "I told you. You should become a doctor."

Koyama frowned because he never knew whether or not Ryo was joking when he said that, but the look on his face this time was really serious. "That would take years of training though."

Ryo simply sat the wine bottle down and pushed the filled glass toward Koyama. "Here, drink and eat already. The food will get cold if you keep talking."

Koyama almost wanted to sigh in response, but he held it back because Ryo was just like that. Koyama shrugged and took a drink of the wine before starting to eat. The food was good, something that didn't surprise him after eating Masuda's cooking a few times already. It was a little more refined than usual maybe. He wasn't sure if it was because it was Ryo's food, or if tonight was just different. He supposed if he was around long enough, he might find out. That thought was both scary and strangely appealing. Koyama actually kind of liked being there. Maybe because it was like an escape, because he hadn't felt like he'd fit in back home anymore.

Suddenly the table shifted as Ryo stood. Koyama looked up in surprise as he finished chewing the piece of steak in his mouth. Ryo moved around the table to stand by him, leaning over enough to grab his arm and pull him up to his feet. Koyama felt his heart beating wildly, both because he wasn't exactly sure what Ryo was doing, but also because he kind of did know. The other man's lips pressing against his cemented that idea, and Koyama gulped down the food almost at the same time. Ryo's arms wrapped around his waist, only pulling him closer, and he tilted his head to kiss him harder. A noise that sounded like something between a moan and a growl vibrated against Koyama's lips, and he felt his blood rushing so fast it had his head spinning.

When Ryo broke away from his lips and started kissing his neck, Koyama took a shaky breath and tried to get his brain to function properly. It wasn't that he was completely inexperienced, but he'd never been with someone like Ryo, and never someone he both wanted and was afraid of having. "Ryo," the other man's name sounded both strange and appealing on his tongue. His voice came out quiet and breathy, a lot more needy than he'd expected, and kind of embarrassing sounding. But Ryo didn't laugh at him as he kissed, bit and sucked on Koyama's neck in a way that was sure to leave marks.

Ryo started moving and Koyama let himself be guided back until his legs hit the edge of the bed. Ryo didn't stop pushing though, and they both went tumbling down, Ryo landing on top of him. He moved his mouth back to Koyama's, kissing him deeper than before. Koyama moaned against Ryo's tongue as it pushed between his lips. The sound only seemed to encourage the other man, who moved his arms to press his hands against the bed on either side of Koyama's shoulders. He shifted his body so that he could grind his hips down against Koyama's, earning him a gasp. Koyama moved his hands to press against Ryo's stomach through his shirt. His body felt incredibly good, just as nice as he had thought it would.

A moment later, Ryo's hand was under his shirt, pressing against his skin insistently. Pressing his teeth against his lip, Koyama moved his gaze to look at the other man. Ryo's eyes seemed to pierce into him, just like they always did. But it was different this time. Now he felt like he could see a lot more reflected in them. Ryo's eyes seemed to open up into a vast part of himself, hinting at what lay beyond. Past the smoldering heat of his lustful gaze, Koyama could detect hints of real emotion there, despite how guarded Ryo was. He pressed his lips together before moving his hands to press against either side of Ryo's head, pulling his face back closer to his own, pressing their mouths together again. The kiss was deep and slower, but Ryo's hands never stopped moving. Koyama felt him unbuttoning his pants, an action that made what they were doing feel so much more real. Koyama couldn't help but wonder if it was as weird to Ryo, having sex with a space cop as it was to him having sex with a space pirate. His thoughts didn't stay there for long though, because Ryo broke out of the kiss again to take his own shirt off. Koyama barely had time to appreciate the way he looked before Ryo was tugging at his shirt too. Koyama lifted himself up slightly to make it easier to remove. Once the shirts were off, Koyama moved his hands to trail down Ryo's chest, to the top of his pants. He breathed in heavily, feeling every part of his body wanting Ryo inside of him.

"I want you," Koyama said, voice still quiet, but he was a little surprised by how forward of a statement he'd just made.

A slow smirk spread across Ryo's face. "I know," he responded in a way that was almost annoying, if Koyama hadn't known he felt the same way. Ryo's hands moved to grab onto Koyama's wrists, pulling them up to press into the bed above his head. Leaning closer, Ryo pressed his lips against Koyama's ear, making a shiver run down his spine. "I'll give myself to you."

Koyama felt his breath catch in his throat as the words seemed to echo down his body. Ryo moved one of his hands, trailing it down Koyama's chest. The sudden weight of it pressing against his crotch made Koyama gasp. He moaned and bucked his hips up into the touch. "Ryo," he moaned the other man's name, begging him for more.

Ryo didn't keep him waiting long. His hands found Koyama's button again, undoing it and pulling his pants down a little. Koyama lifted his hips and Ryo shifted his own body to get them all the way off. Koyama saw the way Ryo looked down at him, his own body reacting to the slow way he drug his tongue over his lips. Instead of going for his own pants, Ryo dug his fingers into Koyama's underwear, slowly sliding them over his cock and off his hips. Although he was completely naked and Ryo still had his pants on, Koyama didn't feel too embarrassed. But it was difficult to focus on that kind of thing when Ryo's hand was wrapping around his penis. He moaned, probably too loudly, and pushed his hips up against Ryo's hand. Grasping the sheets beneath him with his fists, Koyama felt pleasure rip through his body. The other man's name fell from his lips so many times that Koyama would have lost count.

Ryo liked hearing his own name though, and stroked a little harder each time. Koyama's body was hot and sweating. He was breathing hard when Ryo finally pulled his hand away from Koyama's cock. He smirked down at the man before using his hands to push Koyama's legs apart. Moving one hand between them, Ryo ran a finger across the skin surrounding his entrance, making Koyama shiver and press his teeth against his lower lip. Using his other hand, Ryo reached over and grabbed a couple things from the table beside the bed. Koyama saw the unmistakable bottle and condom, and he felt his stomach tense in anticipation. Ryo didn't waste any time in squeazing some on the lubricant out onto his finger.

The pirate smirked as he moved his finger back to press against Koyama's hole, rubbing the liquid into his skin before pressing the tip of his finger against him in a more insistant way. He didn't wait for any sort of approval before starting to push it in. Koyama clenched his jaw as he felt the finger go in further and further. It was tight, but not nearly as much as two would be. It stretched a little, but didn't exactly hurt. Koyama gasped when Ryo bent his finger inside of him. "Mmm, more," he moaned, closing his eyes and pressing his head back into the pillow.

Even though he'd asked for more, Koyama was a little surprised when Ryo was pressing another finger against him. He opened his eyes to see the darker haired man smirking at him as he slowly pushed that one in with the other one. Koyama breathed in sharply as Ryo slowly stretched him open. Koyama was just starting to get used to the two fingers pressing against his walls when Ryo pulled them out. Koyama looked at him with half lidded eyes as Ryo reached down to remove his own pants and underwear. He didn't wait before opening the condom and rolling it on. He moved his eyes to Koyama's, his expression cloudy with desire as he coated himself with a liberal amount of lubricant. Leaning over Koyama, Ryo pressed his forearms against the bed beside him. As Ryo lowered himself down between Koyama's legs, Koyama lifted them to wrap around his waist. He pressed up against the other man, earning him a deep moan when their cocks rubbed against each other.

Moving a hand down, Ryo used it to guide his cock to Koyama's entrance. He started to push in slowly, something that Koyama could feel through his entire body. He moved his hands to press against Ryo's shoulderblades. He clenched his jaw and tried to relax as much as he could as Ryo's penis stretch him a lot more than his fingers had. "Ryo," he said in a shaky voice. Despite how it kind of hurt, Koyama thought it also felt really good, and he wanted more. He wanted Ryo to move faster, to be able to feel him harder inside of him.

Jerking his hips up against Ryo caused the other man to sink further into him. Ryo gasped and leaned down against him, pressing his mouth against the crook between Koyama's neck and shoulder. "Koyama," he said in a tight voice. After a moment, he added a little louder, tilting his mouth to kiss Koyama's neck, "Kei."

Hearing his first name from Ryo felt really sexy, and made Koyama's body feel higher, his blood rushing more. He moved his hips again, urging Ryo to go faster. The other man complied, pulling back and pushing in before moving his hips in a steadier rhythm. It didn't take long for Koyama to get used to the feeling, and to the way Ryo moved. He started moving his hips against Ryo's, which added to the intensity of Ryo's thrusts. As Ryo started to move faster, Koyama felt the pleasure in his body outweighing the pain of being stretched until he didn't really even notice it anymore. He let himself jerk up against Ryo harder, earning him plenty of moans from the other man. Ryo kept his mouth on Koyama almost constantly, biting and licking him in almost every place he could easily reach, including his lips which soon felt like they were probably red and slightly swollen from the attention. Koyama didn't mind because everything Ryo did felt really good, and he felt like he needed more.

When Ryo's hand reached down between them to wrap around his penis, Koyama moaned and pushed up against it. He could feel himself getting closer, his body getting dangerously near orgasm. Then Ryo shifted his body and started pushing more directly agaisnt his prostate, making Koyama's vision go blank momentarily. He gasped and then moaned loudly as he felt his body quickly go over the edge. As he gulped air into his lungs, Koyama slowly moved his gaze back to meet Ryo's, who was looking down at him qith a mixture of lust and smugness. "Did that feel good?" he asked, his voice low and husky sounding.

Koyama nodded, still feeling himself coming down, before adding in a slightly breathless voice, "Yes. It felt so good."

Ryo seemed to like that answer, because he made a sort of growling noise in his throat and started to push into Koyama harder. The lighter haired man gasped and pressed his hands against Ryo's sides. Even though he'd just cum, it still felt really good to have Ryo pounding into him so hard, to still have that feeling even then. Ryo came with a shudder and a sound that got strangled in his throat. He pulled out and fell over onto his side, facing Koyama, who looked over and found himself a little surprised by the soft looking smile on the other man's face. He chewed his lower lip thoughtfully, finding the way he was reacting to seeing that more than just a bad idea, but he didn't really want to try and stop himself.

"That felt as good as I thought it would," Ryo said, sounding satisfied. He scooted closer and wrapped his arm around Koyama's waist. He noticed the smile falling from Ryo's face only a moment before the other man buried it against his neck.

"Kei," he said in a low, but incredibly softer voice than before. Koyama still felt a little surprised by the sound of his first name of Ryo's lips. "I want you to consider something for me, okay."

Koyama felt uncertianty start to seep into him because he had no idea what Ryo might want to ask of him. "What is it?"

Ryo seemed to feel the tension in his body because he pulled away and sat up. Koyama watched as he turned and moved his legs off the side of the bed. Koyama let his eyes lock onto the other man's back, watching him sit there for a moment before he stood and walked over to throw away the used condom. "I want you to not go back to being part of the law enforcement. I never thought you looked like a cop, and even more so now. I know you don't belong there."

Turning around, Ryo gave him a cheeky grin that made Koyama feel a little confused because of how serious his tone had been.

"Join my crew. You can be our doctor."

The suggestion took Koyama completely by surprise. That definitely wasn't anything he would have expected to hear from the other man. Maybe stay for a while, or maybe he would have even asked him to stay as a passenger, but to be a part of the crew, a part of a pirate team? He would have never even considered doing that with his life, not before he'd met them anyway.

"But..." Koyama felt the words come out thick, like they were getting stuck in his throat, like the didn't want to come out. "You already have a doctor," he finished, feeling like even though it was a nice thought, it was really impracticle. "Plus, like I said before, it takes years to learn how to be a doctor. I only know a few things, just basic survival tricks."

Ryo frowned and came back over to the bed, sitting down by Koyama's legs. He pressed a hand against his leg and looked at him with that killer gaze. "Our doctor wants to retire anyway. He's got a girl on some planet that he wants to settle down with, and she refused to stay on board because she thinks we're too crazy." Ryo laughed as if recollecting some scenario, something Koyama was sure would be funny to see, before continuing. "You don't need to go to school. You can learn directly from him until you're good enough. I wasn't ever planning on letting him leave really, but," Ryo paused and pressed his fingers a little harder against Koyama's leg, "I think it would be better to. I always hate losing a part of my crew, but it's never good to force someone to stay. Which is why I'm giving you a choice. If you want, I'll drop you off at the next advanced planet we pass. If not, then we can toss out your old police stuff, inlcuding that damn radio."

Koyama felt his insides twist as he realized Ryo must have known what he'd done, and maybe even listened in on it. Koyama just felt relieved that he hadn't been angry, and that he hadn't said anything to Yamashita that would betray Ryo's trust.

Ryo's patience for an answer ended up surprising Koyama. He did seem a little more withdrawn and serious for the next couple of days. The whole crew seemed to notice, Ueda giving him particularly untrustworthy stares. Akanishi kept asking if he'd failed to perform properly and was sulking about it, which made Koyama blush and stutter, but he also noticed how Jin's eyes got really serious and thoughtful afterwards. Everyone seemed worried, and Koyama felt like everyone might kind of know what was going on. It made him feel even more pressured to come up with an answer, but he didn't want to be hasty. He didn't want to be hasty, but honestly, he felt like he already knew his answer. He'd known before Ryo had even asked. But admitting it to himself, and to them, felt much more difficult. There were a lot of doubts and insecurities that made Koyama feel like making that sort of decision shouldn't be so easy. Plus he had so many people he cared about back home. Could he really just abandon them like that?

It was on the third day since the question, that Koyama made his way to the cafeteria. Masuda grinned when he saw him. "You look like you didn't sleep at all."

"I didn't much actually," Koyama said, letting his head fall onto his palm. "What's for lunch?"

"Lasagna," Masuda said with a dreamy look that made Koyama actually smile.

"You're going to make everyone around here fat, you know."

Masuda pretended to look offended, crossing his arms over his chest. "I haven't yet, have I?"

With a smile, Koyama shook his head softly. "Well, I'll just have a small serving then."

"Okay!" Masuda chirped with a wink. "Oh!" he added, stopping on his way to the kitchen. "I heard we'll be passing a planet today. Earlier Ryo said something about how you might be leaving." Masuda's expression got kind of somber as he added, "It'll be sad to see someone who's actually pleasant to talk to leave."

"Hey! What about me?" Came the offended voice of Nakamaru as he also entered the room. The two started to playfully pick on each other, but Koyama wasn't really listening. They were passing a planet today? He might have to leave. Koyama suddenly felt like there was a huge brick in his chest.

"I think I'll pass on lunch," he said quietly, pushing himself away from the table and leaving the room. Everything felt like it was spinning as he walked down the hallway. He might have to leave. Ryo hadn't changed his mind, right? Because he hadn't answered yet? Koyama felt panicked that he might be kicked out of the place that was starting to feel like home. Ueda had even waved at him that morning, although his lips hadn't ever quite made it to a smile.

Suddenly Koyama found himself at the door to the deck. It opened in front of him, revealing the three men who were usually there to guide the ship. Ueda only glanced at him for a second, his expression somewhat uncomfortable looking. Akanishi looked over his shoulder and then slowly moved his gaze to Ryo. He grimaced before shrugging and turning back to his work. Ryo didn't even look up from some sort of chart he was reading.

"I want to stay," Koyama said quietly. Ueda was the only one who looked up, his expression slightly unreadable. Koyama repeated himself in a louder voice and Ryo finally looked up. Koyama felt his breath catch in his throat at the intensity of his stare. "I don't know if I'll do you any real good, or if I can even become a doctor. I've never really been all that smart, but," he looked around, meeting the gaze of each person there, "I haven't felt at home anywhere in a long time. I never really felt like I fit in at the academy, and I knew I'd make an awful police officer. But all of you, I really like being here. I like the people who are here, all of you. Even Akanishi who teases me, and Ueda who has barely said one nice thing to me the entire time. I want to stay," he repeated finally, taking a deep breath.

"So mushy," Ueda said with a sneer, but Koyama thought he might have detected a smile as he turned away.

When he looked over at Akanishi, Koyama felt a little startled by his shiny eyes. "I knew I liked him, from the moment I saw Ryo drag him into the ship."

Koyama almost laughed at the oddness of the statement, but then he looked at Ryo and he felt any sound he might have made die in his throat. Ryo was still looking at him with that serious, unreadable face. He slowly stood and walked closer to Koyama. Even though the light haired man was slightly taller, Ryo seemed to tower over him in that moment. "Ryo," he felt the other man's name fall from his lips in a voice almost too quiet for even his own ears. Suddenly Ryo's lips crashed against his own, his hand pressing against the back of his neck to pull him closer. Ryo's tongue snaked between his lips to swipe across his mouth before the he pulled back. Koyama closed his fingers against Ryo's shirt, pressing the material against his palm.

"Of course you're staying," Ryo responded finally, a smug and very cocky look taking residence on his features. "You better start studying though. I don't keep freeloaders or wimps around, so no slacking off."

Koyama felt a little surprised by the sudden barking of orders, especially after a couple of days of the other man being more quiet around him. But it was kind of nice in a way, because everyone knew Ryo was more bark than bite. Koyama smiled before turning to go. He really would try his best to make a place for himself there, and if that meant studying medicine then so be it. Maybe he'd even like it.

"Oh," the sound of Ryo's voice stopped Koyama in his tracks. He looked back around to catch a smile on the other man's face as he added, "Dinner in my room, tonight. We can celebrate." Koyama left the room, cat-calls and whistles by Akanishi sounding clearly in his ears, but he couldn't help but smile. He really did kind of like it there.
