I am experiencing some problems with my blood sugar lately.  Cerulean, is that the proper terminology?  I have seen a doctor and will have more lab work done in May.  I am hoping for some ideas on portable snacks that travel well.  Here are a few that I have come up with so far.

What about jerky?

I am interested in why you think the issue is your blood sugar though...

An immediate blood sugar issue will not be fixed with a high protein snack. If you're all of a sudden feeling shaky, confused, cranky etc and it's low blood sugar- you need carbs. In which case fruit is a really good option and travels well. Eating a high protein diet consisting of small frequent meals is a way to PREVENT swings in your blood sugar.

Thank you for adding jerky to the list. cerulean_me April 21 2009, 23:58:46 UTC
I am not certain it is my blood sugar. A lab appointment has been scheduled. I have been eating more protein and less carbs though while I feel better and have lost weight I realize this is strictly anecdotal at this point. I really like jerky but not the sugary stuff and too much salt comes with a new set of problems. Is there a brand you recommend? Which fruits travel well? The fruit I have tried gets brown and yucky after sitting in a hot car all day.

Oranges. Oranges tolerate the heat, don't yet too yucky when bumped around, and come in their own container.

I don't do jerky... so I can't recommend one for you... Ron's fond of it though.
