My Middle Finger.

Sep 05, 2006 15:12

I mentioned it in my previous entry, and so here's the story so far.

Saturday night we were gathering in Sam & Mark's room to watch the movie Snakes On a Plane.  We had just finished doing something in Deborah's room, and most of the group were still over there.  Sam and I, however, went over to his room early.  He made a comment on his deck having ( Read more... )

Oooowwww. That sounds painful.

Usually when painful things are done to me, I'm asleep, so I can't say I know what you went through, but it sounds unpleasant.

The only unpleasant thing that happened to me recently was today my little brother went to his first martial arts class ("Progressive Fighting System" or something--whatever, I guess it takes various martial arts and mushes them together into something that doesn't sound Asian...I don't know) and I allowed him to trip me. He finally managed to do it, and I fell (so hurrah, he doesn't get mugged) and I caught myself on my hand that has the repetitive stress injury or something and it totally hurt.

Now my wrist hurts more than usual, but I'll probably be okay in the morning if I don't move it.

At least it's not turning BLACK.

(And also, I got to trip him, first. He told me how to do it and then I pulled that trick on him. I probably did it wrong.)

>.< OUCH. I used to have toenails turn purple, but they didn`t hurt THAT much, only when I danced on them (痛い!). And they all eventually turned back to their natural pink. (My feet don`t look like dancer feet any more...aside from some blisters on the balls that have turned to dead and peeling skin they look normal.) How much worse to have it on your finger, which are used much more versatily than toes, especially when one uses the computer so much.

Yet it is not gangrene, so be glad. :D

You enjoy relating your various painful experiences here, don`t you? You realize that it makes those of us with active imaginations cringe in pain, right? At least your stories aren`t as bad as they could be, neh.

Hey - be glad that all the picture I took if my nail at assorted times all came out bad - otherwise you have it all much more visually.

And I don't get injured that much. It's rather special when I do. Even if it's just a finger that I closed a door on that had blood pooling under the nail. Not much, but considering my absolute worse injury was a second-degree burn on my ankle...

Your poor finger! If I'm still more horrified at the idea of people messing with it "to help". Hurting one's finger in a door is something that happens to everyone, but most often you only have a little bruise. I have a kind of "don't touch" tendency when I hurt my fingers.

As to Snakes on a Plane, I saw it too. It isn't the kind of movie my family would watch. Maybe they would watch it on TV, but they wouldn't mind going to the pictures for that. I saw it because my Welsh friends (I visited them) went to watch it.

I enjoyed the movie, but I scorn it. Some parts were fun, but clearly not subtle. No imagination at all in this movie. What happens can almost be summarized by the title: Snakes on a plane. People are scared and run away, shouting, screaming and swearing.

I hate their swearing (I'm easily offended by bad language), although I guess that when one gets badly bitten one is allowed to swear to express one's displeasure.

In a few days, your finger will hopefully be better. *winces in sympathy*

I apologise for the off topic.

I want to give you my late birthday wishes. It was your birthday 12 days ago. I meant to say happy birthday but it got out of my head. So happy birthday to you ...

First Slightfoxing, then DC, and now you. Everyone is suddenly remembering my birthday, and apologising for forgetting.

I wouldn't worry about your fingernail, Nil. I, personally, wouldn't have gone to see a doctor and would have just left it as it was. As it is, I'm not sure if your fingernail will do the same as that of a friend I know now. She got her finger slammed in a door, much like you did, and her fingernail also turned black. Then it fell off and a new one grew out. It looked kind of disgusting when the nail was missing, but was completely harmless and, I'm sure, far less painful than what the nurse did to you! I'm not sure if it will be different for you, now that the blood has been squeezed out. You may still keep that fingernail. I don't know, I'm not a doctor. Anyways, hope it feels better soon!

And I don't recall if I wished you a happy birthday, yet (I think I did), but if not, a (verybelated) happy birthday!

Why thank you, Faile.

My finger is still black, but it's fine and does hurt anymore. Out of habit I don't type with it anymore, which isn't terrribly good, but asside from that everything is fine.

Last night I twisted my ankle, though, and that is hurting like hell.
