Some Background History

Aug 04, 2007 21:47

I realize that I started "No Fighting" without any introduction, and assumed everybody knew the background story. So if you're confused, here's what the story is based on and how each character got involved:
Especially for temstant, doober2006 and anyone else who reads this who is not familiar with Inter.

Nico Burdisso
As you may know, Inter and Valencia tied both matches in Champions League, and so Valencia went through on away goals.
At the end of the second round match (in Valencia), a Valencia player insulted Nicolas Burdisso, and people from both teams came to separate them. While Nico was being restrained, a substitute Valencia player came from the bench and punched him, breaking his nose. As one teammate said later, “he aimed it directly and Nicolas’ nose [twisted back].”

And about Nico: “I felt him suddenly go limp like a sack of potatoes, as he was losing consciousness”.
Julio Cruz: Julio Cruz tries to stop the brawl, but chases the aggressor, trying to dropkick him. Here's a slow motion version, so you can see what’s going on better (the first Inter player you see is Nico Burdisso #16):

and after pirlazza's drabble Valencia, I really thought Julio Cruz has to be close to Nico Burdisso.
Javier Zanetti
Javier "Pupi" Zanetti is the responsible one, but getting worked up after the brawl, and Milano - Buenos Aires, (and others later) inspired me to include him.
Here’s the most complete video I found of what happened after the fight.
1.At around 00:28, you can see Burdisso on the ground (not the guy in the grey jacket).
2. At around 00:45, Javier Zanetti (with the yellow Captain’s armband) is worked up, despite usually being calm.
Other characters will come and go; and if necessary, I will give a history of their involvement too, when the time comes :)
