Isn't it funny how sometimes things seem to be so perfect before they start going wrong?

Last Thursday I received a phonecall from a lady asking me if I would be available to head to Japan for two months to work at the NZ pavilion at the World Expo. I have wanted to go to Japan for a very long time, so I said yes. Needless to say that this is a huge opportunity for me ( Read more... )

I hope you get that. I'd just die to work at a World's Fair.

Thank you.

You should have seen me when I got the phone call. I nearly died too. I just hope it all works out. It would be an awesome experience. :)

Well I did get a very short confirmation email when I sent the CV, but I'm pretty sure it was an automated response. From the phonecall, she made it fairly clear that this was an urgent placement which is why this delay isn't such a good sign. I'm going to wait another day before I call her, mainly because tomorrow I'm in a Masterclass all day.

All I can do is trust that things will work out at the end of the day. They will one way or another. Either I will go to Japan (which would be very cool) and then the US later, or I will just go back to my original plans.

Anyway, thank you for your wishes. :)

*hugs*

I would give it a week before you worry. But Aye... you can send a quick e-mail to make sure that she got your CV in the next couple of days. If two weeks go by... then you should call.

I hope you get this job too. It would be a great opportunity.

Out of curiousity, what area of the US are you traveling to? It would be nice to meet you if it is close by.

Well, at this stage I was going to to fly into San Francisco, travel over to Sacramento and visit my sister for about a week and then head across to Kansas City. After that I have no set plans. I imagine it would most likely be back to San Francisco or Los Angeles for the flight home, but my plans are pretty flexible at this stage.

Oh, well I am in San Jose about an hour south of San Franciso. Would like to meet you, if you would so desire.

I'd like that too. I was going to meet up with Skyler and Findra, and they are around there. I'm sure we could all get together and maybe have some kind of SpinDizzy dinner. ;)

okay, what's the worst that can happen: "It was an honor just to be nominated", you don't go to Japan now, but you do go to the US where you will be met by family and friends and other assorteds who will all be glad to see you.
What's the best that can happen: "I'd like to thank the Academy", you go to Japan now, a certain person from KC decides Japan sounds like a good place to visit now, you go to the US later where you will be met by family and friends and other assorted who will all be glad to see you.
Okay, I'm just not seeing a "wrong" in either scenario. =) Your work got recognized, whether you go to Japan or not (always a good feeling) and there are people in the US who want to see you whenever you get here (another good feeling).
I'd kill for either scenario or variation thereof. You're good people and it's known. *hugs*

*great minds think alike*

Have to say "ditto" on NBs comments there. If you really want to find out but don't want to seem too eager, ask your tutor (who nominated you) to see if they could find out whats the go...There is a lot of prep work for going OS as you might well know, and you really DO need the time to prepare.

*fingers and toes and other limbs are crossed for good luck*

Keep us posted.
