Mashblock came out today and helped me construct some barrier doors on the basement to keep the wind and snow out of the basement stairwell. (Thanks dude

You need some of that rubber membrane used on flat roofs. It'd make a decent skirt for the upper end of the stairs, and if you can find enough of it cheap you could cover(it's black, and you could make an overlap between the doors) the whole thing...
Too bad I'm not at the old Graceland shop anymore... Next door neighbor was a roofer, and willingly donated pieces of the stuff when asked - made great door sweeps, and isolation mats for vacuum pumps and the like.
I only wish I could get my basement that comfy! Bet the computers help a lot.
Yes and no. As I reduce my overall wattage less heat is produced.
That said, I'm quickly learning that a fairly large part of what I'm dealing with here is airflow.
For instance I really have to seal off that area from the crawl space. The pipes through the wall can be just sealed with batt style insulation. The hatch however will require a decently made cover. Fortunately I have all I need to make that.

Finances dictated a tarp. ^_^
I still have to Great Stuff most of the cracks but it's consistently 68 degrees downstairs now.
