Unfortunately, not the best of his.... my impression is, it gets worse and worse... only to sell something, not actually because he had an interesting idea about what would happen to the characters. Pity, because I really liked his books.
There were some fine moments in the book, of course (mostly I looked for Jarlaxle/Entreri fanservice xD), but not many, and some stuff Arte and Jarl did was just... strange... heh, I wish he did a better job...
Hunter's Blade Trilogy, I'm in the middle of it as well, but I just can't stand more fighting descriptions... XD I liked them once, when it was rare for me to read a decent fighting description, but I feel like there is nothing besides them in Hunter's Blade XD And, come on, Drizzt should stop being so crystal and pompous, or I'll never be able to finish it XD I only will read the last of the trilogy book (Two Swords) in hope for some Zaknafein memory... because the title just makes me hope to find something about this fine weapon master in there.
yeah, i agree about the fighting scenes. i started the trilogy last year, but haven't been able to get through it *sighs* i have to say i miss the drizzt of old. ah two swords, that's the one where drizzt and catti-brie sex it up (ew). now i can rant to someone else XD the group's chemistry was thrown by that whole turn of events (i think so anyway). i probably won't look into RotP then except to see what strange things they get into.
Uh, Drizzt/Catti is terrible xD not because I hate het or something, just their romance is... not to be, at least in my opinion... considering what happened in Tousand Orcs (if I remember correctly) she should be with Wulfgar. And Drizzt.. well, he's too pure to be with someone XD Long time ago, while I was reading The Heritage, I thought he could be with Alustriel, but well, nothing happened there eventually.
About RotP, they do really, really weird stuff there XDDD Jarlaxle is just unbeatable XD Maybe you should read it anyway... there are some fine scenes with Kimmuriel (<3) as well, I began to like that drow very much after the book~
Yes, Zak is best * - * the most brilliant thing about him is that he is not absolutely perfect, like Drizzt. He has his flaws, which make him suffer, though also make him very human-like and authentic.
