Day 24/5: Sleeping the day away

Last night sleeping in my own bed was *much* more restful than the previous night in the hospital. Set an alarm for every 4 hours (figuring that each painkiller dose should be at east 3 hrs but no more than 4 hrs apart) and always woke inside that span for a snack, pills, water, toilet, back to sleep. Yeah... Recovery from abdominal surgery sucks. Getting out of the hospital is definitely a boon for the resting, though. If you have to open a heavy door anytime soon, lean forward with your upper body weight and soften your knees to get it open, then turn and back through while leaning on the door with your back. Seems to avoid the bulk of abdominal engagement. (Seriously, heavy doors were the worst.)

Thanks! That's really good to know. II've been using the handicapped buttons and feeling slightly guilty about wearing down the batteries...but it was necessary whilst on crutches and really hand right now when I don't feel much up to wrestling with heavy doors!
