Taxes are stupid too!

How did you come up with 2 exemptions? As you've now figured out.. it should be 1.. you should change that!

If you took a head of household exemption, that's typically for homeowners, not renters.

That's what the dumb instructions TOLD me, and no, I'm not claiming head of household.

A. Enter "1" for yourself if no one else can claim you as a dependent.

B. Enter "1" if: You are single and have only one job, or; You are married, have only one job, and your spouse does not work, or; Your wages from a second job or your spouse's wages (or the total of both) are $1,000 or less.

That adds up to two to me. Am I misinterpreting B or something?

And yeah, I'm changing it first thing tomorrow. I'm actually debating whether or not to just go back to no exemptions.

Or instead of changing it, maybe go with claiming 2, but having them take out $1-2/paycheck extra. From my calculations, that still comes out as less taxes than claiming 1.

And I forget the tax bs I knew, but I do remember that claiming 1 was supposedly the way to go. It's been awhile since I've had a tax accountancy class, though.
