I was trying to write yesterday, but the joy and optimism I was feeling seriously harshed my angst buzz. And I needed that for the purposes at hand. So while I was watching the festivities on the tv, I did do a little netsurfing. My favourite things that I discovered.

You've probably all seen the Legoland Inauguration, but I find it adorable ( Read more... )

I hadn't see the Lego thing, so thatnks :)

I finally got to see that pyramid! I heard about it several times, but yeah, that is so bizarre and interesting and sad once I think of all that waste. Very cool links!

You're welcome. Isn't it cute? Ickle brickie President and first family! But the portaloos are the crowning touch, I do believe.

For a minute I thought you meant you'd actually been to Pyongyang... but you'd just read about the pyramid, is that what you mean? It is very sad and wasteful, especially considering conditions in North Korea. Although it also reminds me of the agitator in a washing machine. There's a church in San Francisco that looks like a different version of an agitator, and we always called it "St. Mary Maytag" - so much that I can't remember what the actual name is!

Ah, OK, need to clarify. While I'd be trilled to go to North Korea, I've never been there. Closest I got was Vietnam :D I just have read a lot about the place and I have what I can only describe as a morbid fascination with that country.

I figured it out after a minute! XD I kept thinking, "How the hell did she get into North Korea and back out?!"

I have what I can only describe as a morbid fascination with that country.

Sadly, these days, any fascination with it can only be morbid. I just realized I haven't heard anything about Kim Jong-Il since back before Christmas, when they released all those clearly photo-shopped pictures.

I love that speech, I love those colours, and I love the light overlay of Gallifreyan script. He's a little caught breathing in in the photo, so it's not the best picture of him in terms of looks, but it does capture that dynamic-even-when-standing-still quality.
