(I think continental knitting's easier, too, not that I do much of it yet-- still learning, really. I recall something on Wikipedia mentioning that's usually the easier way to go if you've already learned crochet. I think I wound up doing it like that out of sheer habit before I learned what it was called...)
Daleks are cute, I agree. I enjoyed making it, seeing the shape emerge, since it's all in one piece.
It makes sense that continental knitting is better for crocheters - I've crocheted since I was about three and tried repeatedly to learn knitting the way I was taught (always by people who did English), but I would just get bored. I would always work really, really close to the ends of the needles, sort of like the continental style, but then they'd go, "No, no, no, get back from the ends!" So I guess we crocheters just have the instinct!
