What is woodruff?? I'm generally leery of things containing yoghurt, but it sounds fascinating.

Don't know...leo told me that's the English word for Waldmeister.

If you quote the whole thing "how they used a scale for their goods in those times", it might make more sense. HOW. At THOSE times when people didn't have high-tec digital scales. =P It's interesting to see how they did it back then with limited means.

Ah, I took "how" as a relative connective rather than an indirect interrogative.

Oh, I see; a plant mostly used in Germany as a flavouring agent. Not a plant/herb I'm familiar with at all.
