Record companies know that controversy and outrage sells. The best thing that can happen for a record these days is a boycott by any large group, especially a hardline conservative group. Teenagers inherently hate censorship, because it reminds them of when their parents would cover their eyes during gory movies, or whatever, and then they say "well, I'm not a kid anymore, damnit, so I'm going to go out and do what I can to support this record
