Is Jesus the only way?

Oct 13, 2009 11:31

"Go ahead, check every other world Religion and see if there is another God pursuing you with his love,
giving you the freedom to choose him or not! "

"It would demean Jesus for who he is and what he's done to say that all Religions are just the same"

The first quote is obviously refuted by even a cursory reading of the B'hagivadh Gita, one of the most influential and holy texts in Hinduism. I'm not as familiar with Buddhism, but there are many Boddisatvas who love enough to devote their considerable (and possibly infinite) lives to guiding others away from the paths of suffering and earthly entanglement. In short, the concept of Divine Love is not solely the province of Christianity.

While we're on the subject, you might do well to ask the question, "Who compiled, edited, and (assuming you aren't reading the original Latin, Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew texts) translated the Bible?" Don't just ask that question seek the answers to it as well. Once you've found the answer to the first set of questions, then ask "Why did those people make the decisions they did?"

Taken literally, the Bible says the earth is flat and setting on pillars and cannot move (Ps 93:1, Ps 96:10, 1 Sam 2:8, Job 9:6). It says that great sea monsters are set to guard the edge of the sea (Job 41, Ps 104:26)

Why would God, all powerful and all knowing, allow anyone on earth not to at least hear his message, if he were the only valid religion ( ... )
