This is wonderfully charming. I love the image of Nine in makeup and a New Romantic blouse.

Thank you!

I love the image of Nine in makeup and a New Romantic blouse.

It seems the complete antithesis of his style, and yet I think it would work on him. It was my first thought when I got the prompts.

Thank you! And thanks for mentioning the Jackie and Pete angle - that was one of my favourite things, and it seems to get lost in the make-up and the lost TARDIS. I originally wrote this to be on New Year's Eve so Rose would be more certain that they were there, but they don't tend to pick up rubbish on New Year's Eve, and that shot the rest of the plot all to hell. ;-)

and I know enough to know that they might be wearing eyeliner and hair mousse, and they might be harmless, but they might also just try to kill you.

What? I think I might be missing some key facts about 1980's British culture here. ^^;

he gives her an offended, “Oi,” with a slap to her bum

My, aren't we familiar! Echoes of the whole rest of the fic, though. Rose stripping him without warning, her slipping her hand into his back pocket (for authenticity reasons, I'm sure :-p ), and that really lovely dance scene you wrote. Good job at writing these two as if they're magnetized, being pulled together inexorably.

It's not terribly specific, but basically the kind of young men who would go to a dance like this would probably be suspicious of anyone with Doc Martens and cropped haircut and might be a bit belligerent. It's just an excuse, really, to dress him up, although I admit, I've always been a bit offended by those DW fans who were prejudiced against Nine because of the way he looked and called him a skinhead, a football hooligan, or "rude", where he doesn't seem appreciably more rude than any other Doctor in my experience. It seems like a bit of unexamined classism, in part, I suppose, because CE is so identified with his Northern background.

Sorry - didn't mean to write an essay!

My, aren't we familiar! …Good job at writing these two as if they're magnetized, being pulled together inexorably.Thank you! To me, that was just trying to capture what I saw onscreen. I was struck by the casual intimacy of Nine and Rose right from the beginning. They never ( ... )

Glad you liked it!

that rose didn't go after pete and jackie. That she was able to let it be.

I figured she would be in so much shock that it wouldn't quite occur to her until it was too late, but then it would put the seed in her mind for "Father's Day".

I like how self actualized and in control she is.

I liked that enormously about Rose in S1, and when she wasn't around the Doctor in S2. She was so easy and natural early on, but after the regeneration, she tightened up. Don't know how much that's written and how much it's Billie...

And your descriptions of the doctor in make up are dead sexy. :)

Oh, good. Because that was walking a tightrope!

Thank you. I'm glad to know it touched you - and I love that line, too. I didn't even remember writing it!
