Ooh, a very intriguing start. Love seeing everything from Jack's POV.

Jack has his needs, even if they don't exactly match his wants. Even the Doctor has his needs and wants, even if he won't acknowledge them...

Can't wait to see the prompts fulfilled. ;)

Oh, you are so right. You've just put your finger on something very, very important. Either you're very good at picking up signals, or I'm better at foreshadowing than I thought!

Oh, yay! *dances for joy* I love the descriptions of the market and this is absolutely a perfect Jack. I absolutely adore this paragraph:

Except for those times when he wanted to smack their heads together, or better yet, tie them together face to face (wrists firmly behind the other’s back; good if they were standing up, even better if they were lying down, or sitting, legs arranged around each other’s hips - he had considered several scenarios in ever-increasing detail) so that they were forced to really look at each other and do something about all that electrochemical energy flying around. It was obviously short-circuiting their higher reasoning; it was certainly playing holy havoc with his.

That had me giggling, mostly because I could *see* Jack doing that *g* I look forward to the next installment on this one! I'm favouriting it on Tsp so I don't miss a chapter. :)

Oh, yay, whew! I can't tell you how intimidating it was to draw your prompt for one of my first "public" DW stories. (Ask Wendy about my reaction sometime.) I'm so glad this part worked for you. The prompts actually folded really well into a large story I had been thinking about for some time, so this is going to be quite a long one as it plays out - I hope you don't mind. I'll try to make the individual chapters entertaining enough to keep you interested over the long span. It is going to get darker. Quite a bit darker.

Jack writes Nine/Rose fanfic. You just know he does. And he Marty Stus himself right in the middle.

Oooh, a longer fic? You won't hear any complaints from me! And dark? I like dark. A lot *g* Ask Wendy if you don't believe me ;)

ROFL! He does! He so does!

Oh, I am totally enamored with the way you write Nine. I'm still exploring Doctor Who, trying to decide if I have a preference for Nine or Ten (I think I can persist in liking them both equally for different reasons). But I really really love Jack, so reading this from his POV is lovely. I can't wait to read more!

Hmm-I'm only getting some LJ notifications! Sorry for not responding sooner!

Thank you! I'm really just trying to live up to what Chris Eccleston lays down. I've maintained since Shallow Grave that he was the actor of his generation - for a while, it was neck and neck with David Thewlis - and nothing I've seen since has changed my mind; he's steadily gotten even better. (I did try to like Ten, all the way up to Utopia, but between the writers' characterization and Tennant's performance, they seem to hit every single button that turns me off so hard.) The chemistry between Nine and Rose, or between Nine and Jack, was so strong, it's extraordinary how very well they work as three. This story is going to be about coming to that balance.

Chris Eccleston is amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him as Nine. I've only seen a few eps of Doctor Who with him, but I've seen enough to agree with you on the chemistry between Nine and Jack and Nine and Rose (and for that matter Rose and Jack). I can't wait to see how this unravels.

Thanks!

They were awfully cute, you have to admit. Without being annoying, at least to me!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! And happy you found your way here. As you can see, I'm slow, but I'm persistent. Two years later, I'm working on Chapter 15...

Oh, I'll stretch out the reading! :)

I write one-shots, so I'm impressed with a series since I can't handle writing them!

Well, I've never tried anything of this length/weight before. My problem was that I knew the ending… and then had to try to figure out how to get there! I thought it was going to take 12 chapters, but I turned out to be quite long-winded.

Boy, was I surprised!

Yeah, that was sarcasm, I know I'm long-winded. I just answered a couple of questions on the author interview, and ended up writing essays.
