Oh hell yes. This was amazing. The whole thing with Claire was absolutely adorable. *Hurries off to read the next part*

Even before we knew that they were planning backstory with Claude as surrogate daddy, I just knew he'd be involved with the family somehow. And be able to relate to the kids better than HRG. I don't think it was great foresight on my part, just good, consistent character development (and CE is very good with children, so 2+2...).

Oh, yes. I'd always assumed Claude was involved in with the family. *Grins*

I like the atmosphere of this. The joy coming off of Claude as he plays with Claire is sweet, but the underlying protectiveness eeks through.

I'm looking forward to the rest. Thank you for pointing this way. Sorry I wasn't paying closer attention.

I like the atmosphere of this.

Oh, good. Because it's almost all atmosphere! (There's some plot, but it's mostly stuff you're going to have to put together yourself...)

Even before I found out that they'd intended Claude to be Claire's emotional father, I thought he'd be closer to her than HRG. To be honest, I think Bennet is an emotional cripple and he's lucky he hasn't ruined the family more than he has, so this story is my trying to get into his head and explain why he might be that way.

I'm glad you found it and are enjoying it. I just need to finish it now, but my OT3 fic is more demanding at the moment! Then there's that ficathon...

Aww :) the interactions between Claude and Claire are just lovely.

The groans of protest, one soprano, one baritone, went up in harmony.
I can see/hear that so clearly!

“She knows I’m here-”

“Even if I can’t see him,” Claire chorused with him, cuddling into his side, and Bennet stepped away, invisible to his own family.
.
That is both cute and sad, I love the layered meaning. It shows the really strong contrast between Claude and Bennett's relationships with her as well.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. It's helping me work a little on the final part (I can't believe I guessed right at the start, and it really is going to end with six parts... well, maybe seven depending on length - I'm usually hopeless at that kind of estimation).

I'm glad the layered meanings worked for you. I tried to put a lot of that in here, because I enjoy it when I read/watch, too. And Claude is clearly a "layered" chap.
