There are a few fundamental changes which must come about to create a fairer justice system.

-First, the focus on crime should be around defense of people rather than institutions-Secondly, the barbaric legislation against prostitution, drugs and similar prohibitory transgressions should be removed

Interesting. Over the past couple of weeks I've been spurred (I must admit, by the Polanski case) to strongly distinguish between crimes against the person and crimes against things and the principles of accusatory versus inquisitorial methods of determining adversary.
