The Doctor was in the console room, doing a few repairs with the wiring. That's what you do hours before attending a formal dance, of course.

Jane had got lost wandering around inside the TARDIS looking for the Doctor. So when she came into the main console room and noticed the sounds of "jiggery pokery" (not dirty) she stopped short.

"You been in here the whole fucking time?"

"I started a little while ago," the Doctor said. "Looking for me?"

"Yeah... Since last night... I was hopin... Uh."
