Britain in Europe ravanasnape March 6 2007, 15:22:06 UTC
I think, although I'm a little hazy on the details, that Britain initially helped set up the idea for a shared economic system (the EEC) but backed out at the last minute. This annoyed the French (and we don't get on well with the French at the best of times) so when we woke up to the idea of the benefits that a shared economy would bring, they kept vetoing us. Then us, Sweden and Denmark (not really sure where we put Finland or Iceland). And of course the UK (do you use "GB" or is it just "UK"?). So Europe is quite parted.

I'm now going to write two essays. One on Britian's relationship to the EU/Europe, and one on Britain's relationship with the US. I was looking through my text book, and I found this (you don't have to read it): one, two and three (sorry for the awful scan-job ( ... )
