Question to the masses as I'm contemplating on buying something possibly inadvisable!

What is your most expensive piece of clothing and how much did it cost? What did you consider before actually buying it?

I'm debating on buying a gorgeous-looking coat, but am still balancing out the pros/cons/risks of the endeavor, sob.

(It's such a pretty coat though no Nin stop thinking and sit on it for now)

what do

I've paid $200 for a pair of shoes.

(Were those the shoes that I was there to watch you debate about in Vegas or something)

You bought those at the mall and were assured of its quality though, right? :|a

Yes and no. :U I've bought shoes at that price, and usually I do it in person. I did buy a relatively expensive pair of shoes over the net, tho, but I know the company's known for quality. The only issue was I couldn't tell if they looked good on my feet, but they have an amazing return policy for that sort of thing so. :U

I got a $200 something leather jacket that was reduced to $160. I was absolutely in love with it but didn't intend to spend that much, but was convinced after I noted the quality and how long it would last. I got it more than two years ago and it still looks amazing and I wear it ALL THE TIME. It was completely worth it. (it's hanging over the back of my chair as I type...)

200€ or thereabouts, also a coat. It was an impulse buy, but I don't regret it one bit.

Show us a picture? :D :D

That's gorgeous. And strangely similar to the coat I was talking about in colour and cut, amusingly enough. IDK, looking at evaluations most customers seem very happy with their purchases; I assume you've already gone through them to see if someone's already bought that coat, but is there any way of contacting the maker and asking how sturdy the fabric is/exactly how much wool vs. polyester there is in it, etc?

I can contact the person, but they're on vacation right now? And there's a 10% sale while they're gone so uh. Idk. :(

I've paid $350 for a coat, but it was by Tracey Reese and looks like it came out of a Russian court painting and I was 20 years old and recall phoning up my mom to ask permission to use her credit card. (I still have the coat and use it whenever I need to make an entrance and it's not freezing cold out XD)

These days, I tend to shop sales, and look out for the further reductions on top of the current markdown. If the coat is something durable and wearable (and warm!) that you will have for years to come, it's worth the investment provided it doesn't put you in the red to buy it.

Good luck! ♥

... Pics please, that's sounds rad.

Sob, I usually do (or rather my mom does cuz I don't give a hoot about more new clothes usually and she is like a Sales Goddess), but this is on Etsy and Idk just how durable/wearable it is. orz

I think I paid about $300 for a leather trenchcoat; I still wear it all the time.
