our human minds want all the answers. its the nature of living. wanting to know how things came to be. we have religion because humans fear the unknown, and need an explanation for everything. and humans are very attached to living, thus wanting to believe that once you die, you still get to live in some kind of alternate world where everything is ( Read more... )

good point. but if your opinions or way of thinking don't agree with the majority it makes you feel kind of crazy.

In regards to the first part, I have this weird belief that atheists are the only people capable of true altruism because they have no incentive. Even Mother Theresa had ulterior motives. If she helped all the poor kids she gets to go to heaven. It sounds cynical but I don't think of it that way.

As far as the second part it just sounds like you have an enriched imagination.

Random fact: The Learning Channel said that about 75% of babies resemble their father more because the mother knows that what came out of her was hers, but the man has no way of knowing. An evolutionary fidelity-check.

sure, most people have alterior motives, thats what really messes with me. my philosophy class yesterday was talking about how the US feels the need to decide that customs or practices in other countries are morally wrong, and so the US goes there and inflicts our governmental system and values on them. And whenever the US offers to "help" other countries, it isn't ever just out of the kindness of their heart. They want to provide them with something and then say "by the way, this is how you should run your country." kind of reminds me of christianity..."here let me help you with that, by the way have you accepted jesus as your savior yet?"

yeah, i most definitely have an enriched imagination. but my mind works in strange ways, in that if i want to see something badly enough, it somehow appears. my mind projects it there or something. its too hard to explain.
